Polar Combines WIth Adidas to Make Project Fusion

Polar and Adidas: United, Awesome and Expensive

Adidas is known for their fitness gear, apparel and accessories. Polar makes great heart rate monitors. Integrate the two together and you have a unique fitness training system called Project Fusion.

The clothes (called it adiStar Fusion Apparel) feature integrated soft textile heart rate monitor sensors built right into the fabric so there are no hard parts or irritating seams. The sensors communicate with the Polar watch, so you can monitor your heart rate. If you get the adiStar Fusion shoe, it has a sensor that fits in the midsole so you can track your distance and speed, which is also displayed on the watch. Check out the video to see what I mean.

It's a pretty penny to purchase this entire system. To find out how much it'll set you back

You'll need to buy:

The RS800 Running Computer watch ($389.95)
The top ($39.99) or sports bra ($44.99)
A pair of adiStar running shoes ($111.56)
The Polar s3 stride Sensor ($139.95)

So for a grand total of about $680, you can be the first on your block to own this Adidas and Polar integrated training system. It's great if you're obsessed with tracking your runs and have some extra money lying around.

I hate how now everyone has products that will only work with their special shoes. It's so annoying. I want just the sports bra, and I want it to show the heart rate right on the monitor. But no, you HAVE to buy the watch too. ARGH. Too much $$$.

Geez, I wish I liked my brother enough to get him that for his birthday. And if I did get him that I wish I could count on him putting down the bong and beer and rekindling his love of running again, so that I could run with him.Back in the day - he would have been all over the polar/ADIDAS heart monitor. Now if its not Star Trek, a bong and foaming beer he isn't interested.

WOw that's expensive! I'd be happy just with the sportsbra + watch. would that still work to measure my heart rate?

For those who are interested, you can get the sports bras with the sensor clips at other places, too. Numetrex.com has ones that will work with the Polar heart rate monitors (or their own system). You can get Polar branded ones at Amazon.com that allow you tp ut the entire chest strap through loops on the bra. I *do* LOVE the idea of the footpod being IN the shoe here though. I have an RS200 running computer with the S1 footpod, and it's a bit bulky to hook on the top of my shoe (not to mention it looks a bit funny). Unfortunately, and maybe it's just me, many runners aren't going to forego their favorite shoes to buy a pair of adidas with this feature. It's nice, but my first inclination with a show is to find the one that's comfortable, fits the way I run, and that works for how I run. Probably not necessarily an adidas shoe.

I have a polar heart rate monitor already, so that bra looks great, but it's out of stock :( Why do they taunt me so?The other things look cool, but eh, little too much

An overload of information can be good for motivating and helping you train better, but it can also be just that - an overload. The thing I've always loved about running is the pure simplicity of it. Shorts, sneakers, and a good trail....that's money.
