Poll: Do You Crave Fatty Foods in Winter?

Do You Crave Fatty Foods in Winter?

When there is a Winter chill in the air, I crave fat. Milk fat mostly, like cheese and ice cream. But the cravings are not limited to just dairy products; duck confit is often top of the list. Corn chips might do in a pinch. I am wondering if you experience this too, so tell me . . .

More of a warm food craving for me as well. Homemade soups, stews, chili, roasted chicken and veggies. I also usually have a stash of caramelized/balsamic onions in the fridge to warm up and eat on their own, or to mix with other warm foods. NUM!

I don't crave fatty foods, just hot foods. I keep my house fairly chilly in the winter, so I LOVE hot coffee, hot tea, and soups and stews in the wintertime.

I only crave ice cream (whenever its cold I want ice cream really bad even though it cold - usually fruity sorbets), soup and beans in the winter then in the Summer I crave soup again and casseroles. Weird body.

I think in the winter I do crave more "comfort foods" which usually translates to fatty foods (mashed potatoes with extra butter, bacon, mac and cheese..ect). During the summer its different, all I was is cool and fresh things like sushi and fruit (I think just because its too hot outside to want mashed taters). I like to joke that its my primal inner-caveman that tells me to eat fatty foods so that I get an extra layer of "insulation" and don't freeze to death, lol.

Well, let me amend my answer. In summer I crave light, cool foods because summers are just so freaking miserable here.

Winter, spring, summer, fall.

Count me as another vote for hot foods, as opposed to fatty foods. Salad just doesn't have the same appeal when it's freezing outside!

No not really, my balanced diet includes healthy fats and I feel that is why I don't crave them. I eat enough to feel satisfied. Like someone else said, it's more warm foods I want. For instance, I will always steam my vegetables or something but in summertime I like to eat them cold and raw. It's so refreshing!

I don't know if I really do. I think for me it's more of wanting hot/warm foods but not necessarily fatty or heavy foods.

i think that i do - but to be honest, i don't notice the difference of my 'fatty cravings' from one season to the next. the only thing that i've seen is that i prefer light cold things when it's hot here.

When I am PMSing sure but otherwise I don't notice a difference.

my body does not discriminate...I am craving stuff all year round lol. :P just kidding, my cravings definitely kick up in the winter though. something about the weather I think...makes you just want to curl up with some comfort food. especially since I'm at school w/ way too much work, the stress doesn't help on top of that. the warm weather makes me think less about food and puts me in a better mindset altogether...SUMMER PLEASE.

I really just crave things like homemade soups, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and casseroles. It's hard for me to want to salad when it's so freaking cold, so I roast pans of veggies and mix with some quinoa and drizzle in some olive oil...it helps my cravings for comfort food without being bad for me.
