These figures seem way too high. Estimates seem to creep up higher every year! Last year my "aunt" calculated the totals for our Thanksgiving meal and posted them at DietFacts.com/thanksgiving.asp. It was more like 1750 calories and 65g fat *if* you ate a LOT of EVERYTHING.... which no one in the whole family could do. Whoever had lots of stuffing and potatoes certainly had no room for pumpkin pie!

It's kind of mind-blowing to me that anyone could even eat 3000 calories in one sitting. I'm so used to eating fresh vegetables and vegetarian protein sources that I would have to eat about six plates of food to get that many calories in one go - by which time I would be unable to stand up, heh. But even so, I wouldn't have thought that a plate of turkey, vegetables and stuffing, and maybe a slice of pie or something, would add up to that many calories either. That's a bit scary!

*Sigh* The sad thing is that I'll still attack the cranberry sauce as if it were a discounted purse after learning this. Hey, it's only once a year!
