Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients

  1. 1/3 cup rolled oats
  2. 1/2 cup water
  3. 1/2 cup soy milk (any other works — I bet almond milk would be DELISH)
  4. 1 small apple, chopped
  5. 1 teaspoon ground flax
  6. 10 almonds
  7. Cinnamon

Directions

Add water and 1/2 of the chopped apple to a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. Cook for about five minutes, then add oats, flax, and milk. Cook for another three minutes, stirring well so it doesn't stick to the saucepan (I don't have a nonstick pan). Pour into a small bowl, and top with chopped almonds and cinnamon. Stir well and top with remaining apple. Enjoy :)

Calories — 290, 12.9 g protein, 10.7 g fiber!

Oh I know when I don't have time I microwave it (check out my "Banana Split oatmeal" -instead of cooking just microwave for 60 sec, stir and add banana, and microwave for another 60 sec), but since the apples have to soften up I figured the stove would be a better option.

You can totally chuck all the ingredients in a bowl and microwave for 3-5 minutes. Oatmeal is a Godsend in any dorm room experience!
