Review of Jackie Warner's Thintervention Show, "Sink or Swim" Episode

Have You Ever Taken a Fitness Vacation?

Trainer Jackie Warner's time with the contestants on Thintervention is nearing its end. Last night's episode marked the last before she sends them out into the real world to work the program on their own for six weeks. As preparation for their return to their regular lives, Jackie takes the clients to a fitness resort for training and temptation overdrive.

Staying on track while on vacation requires great effort, but fitness-focused retreats allow you to keep up, amp up, or focus your usual routine while getting away from the rest of your daily life. Have you ever taken time off or traveled in the name of health?

aburlock: I totally agree! Not very motivating, and I also think it has some serious weight-loss mumbo-jumbo--like all that focus on Jackie's special morning shake. The episode that I watched she totally chewed people out for "only" losing 2 - 3 pounds that week. Umm, isn't that supposed to be the rate of healthy weight loss?

I like the show...I don't think it's more intense than the Biggest Loser, but I think the participants in Thintervention are not quite as motivated to lose weight as TBL participants. I think a few of them are really committed, but some of them (like Nikki and Geana) are just whiny little rich girls. Incidentally, I've never been on a fitness vacation, but I'd LOVE to go on one. That'd be awesome!

What do people think about this show? I don't find it very motivating. Jackie seems rather mean and it makes me want to hide. I feel like it might cause me to have a bad relationship with food/exercise rather than a good one. It seems like such an intense program that it is unlikely that the participants can maintain after the show..Any thoughts?
