7/7, and now I'm craving kale and brussel sprouts. I made the brussel sprouts with baked potato not long ago from this site, which was awesome and left me wanting more. Just made a chard with sofrito last night which I want more of. It would be great over polenta. My cashiers rarely have issues with the produce. I'm usually surprised at how much they know. I shop at a blend of Safeway, Whole Foods, and a local chain, Cosentino's, and don't get many questions.

7/7 i love my produce too :) I've been shopping for significantly less since we signed up for the local organic produce delivery service, but I tend to use the self checkout anyway to avoid lines.

7/7, whooo! I've always wanted to try a persimmon. No brussels sprouts for me, though. My roommate ate some once and they smelled so terrible it put me off them forever.

Rrrrrr..... i work at a grocery store, as a cashier. i take offense by use the terms used to describe cashiers.... "These people" etc.... well that is a bit narrow. i like my job a lot. and who cares if some cashiers don't know 1 veggie or two, they might know the next one, and if they don't well just kindly inform them, and then the cashier will know it. move on with your life people. i can't believe that people get so upset over this stuff. anyywayyyysss.... i want a pomegranate too, yummy....

7/7!!! Where does everyone shop? My local grocery store knows all the produce, but it's a Mom and Pop place and they specialize in produce!

7/7...easy! I definitely know my produce. I also hate it when the grocery store checker doesn't know the difference between green onions and leeks or whatever. Once I got $3.00 worth of leeks for 18 cents because they charged them as green onions. Score!

woooo! 7 out of 7! I was gonna say that too, Jennains- the young kids see me piling on all that produce and they look at me like they want to shoot me. LOL

I know my produce! But I had a hard time buying poblano peppers last week. The cashier had never heard of them & couldn't even repeat their name back to me properly. She had to get a manager to ring them up.

Niami, this idiot kid thought pomegranates were apples at my grocery store. No, I didn't correct him. I got a helluva deal on my fruit. I don't feel bad about it, they cost too much to begin with and he shouldn't work at a grocery store if he can't tell the difference.
