Sun Salutation A Video to Celebrate Summer Solstice

Celebrate Summer Solstice With Sun Salutation A

Happy first day of Summer! Although it feels like we were just talking about skiing and how to prevent the flu, June 20 is here — aka the Summer Solstice. You can celebrate by getting outside for a Summer run along the beach, chopping up a fresh strawberry salad, or do like the yogis do: perform 108 Sun Salutations, a practice called Mala. The number 108 is considered sacred in Hindu and Buddhist belief systems, and it represents quite a physical challenge too.

If there's no yoga studio close to you hosting a group Mala, unroll your yoga mat and try it on your own. Light some candles or perform your sun salutes under the twinkling glow of the clear night sky. Get ready to welcome Summer and say hello to the sun.

Not sure how to do a Sun Salutation? Watch this video of the calming yoga sequence.

I've been doing the sun salutation every morning for a few months now. It really helps me wake up and get moving.

Im glad I found this Fit!!! I was just about to ask you if you had any yoga moves I could do in the morning to wake up my body. Already have my pilates routine down so I would love some yoga to intertwine with it Is there going to be a sun salutation B?

I've never heard chaturanga called 4 limbed staff before, if you do these with a breath for each pose, it's super envigorating... love me some yoga!

Sun Salutation always calms my mind and stretches my hips - I do it when I'm feeling stressed out and I always feel better afterward.
