Take a Walk After You Eat

Health Tip: Take a Walk After You Eat Like Rosario Dawson

I'm a fan of taking a walk after dinner, but why limit your postmeal strolls to just after supper? Roasrio Dawson says, "It's great to take a walk after you have a meal." So, if you have time, take a little walk after breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Not only will it burn some calories and help with digestion, but it's a way to get some fresh air and enjoy the pleasant Summer weather. Since exercise curbs your appetite and can give you an added boost of energy, walking after eating can also prevent you from mindlessly snacking in between meals. Another bonus? Walking is free and calms the mind, so it's an inexpensive way to relieve stress, which can lower blood pressure. Try walking just 10 minutes after each meal, and you'll immediately notice the benefits.

is there evidence that excercise surpresses hunger? Cos for me and everyone I know it seems to be the opposite. Any thoughts?

I don't like taking walks right after eating. Whenever I do it, I feel this heavy feeling like I have eaten rocks - not pleasant at all. And I have actually read that after a meal, blood accumulates in your stomach to help with digestion, so if you walk you actually prevent this process. I do not know if it's true - maybe for some it's different than others. A couple of hours after eating, a nice walk can be enjoyable. But definitely not immediately after.

I do this very often and it works for me. I just take a short walk around the city. After the stroll I don't feel sleepy and I don't feel like I need to snack. Sometimes, if I'm really tired, I take a short nap instead (not more than 20 minutes or a half an hour). On a totally different subject, Rosario looks amazing in this picture!

I don't do this very often...usually I find movement after meals upsets my stomach. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. But the title of this article was kind of awkward...at first I thought we were talking about the way Rosario Dawson was EATING, not how she WALKS after eating! :D

I always do this when I go to my inlaws' farm. After supper, my husband and I take long walks around the farmland and talk. It's really nice.

This is kind of like reading a recipe for boiling water, IMO. Just saying!
