5 Weight-Loss Rules You Can and Should Break

Traveling? Leave the Stress at Home

Missed your flight because your dog decided to walk himself? Freaking out because you can only bring 3 oz of contact lens solution on the plane and all they sell are 4 oz travel size bottles? Ahhhhh.

Don't Stress. Breathe. It's out of your control. You can't stop the snow or make your plane land on time. Instead of worrying about making your connecting flight, just close your eyes and try this diaphragmatic breathing exercise that was made for stressful situations.

Simply take 3 slow breaths to calm your body counting slowly in your mind to 3 while inhaling through your nose. Fill up your stomach rather than your chest, allowing you to breathe with your diaphragm, deepening the breaths. Exhale through your mouth on a slow count of 6.

If you want to SEE the rhythm

Repeat two more times.

Be sure that you pace your breath so that you have some air left by the time you get to 6. If you feel light-headed, just slow it down a bit. Contrary to popular belief, passing out will not help your situation.
