What Do You Do With Your "Before" Photos?

What Do You Do With Your "Before" Photos?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but I think some pairs of photos might just say a million. The contrast found in "before" and "after" photos can be inspirational like these from Fitness magazine. A friend of mine who lost an incredible amount of weigh keeps photos framed in her living room! So I was wondering. Do you have any "before" photos? You know, pictures of you when you were not so fit? If so...

it's silly, but i cringe whenever i see a pic of myself from high school (which was just a few years ago, might i add). by no means was i ever, EVER "fat", but my face seemed fuller then. noticing the difference now though makes me appreciate growing up & into my body and features.

I have them. I show them to anyone who isn't blind. I post them on the internet. Why? Because I am freakin' proud of my accomplishments. I am proud and loved the woman I was even at 330 pounds and I love the woman I am now and they are the same person. If you cannot accept and love who you were before, you cannot fully accept the person you've become post weight loss.

I studied abroad in London during my junior year, and really let myself go. It wasn't until I was back in the states and saw a picture of myself from the last week there that I realized I needed to kick my butt in gear. I keep the picture saved on my computer desktop for when I need extra motivation to eat well and get to the gym.

I have lost 53 pounds and still counting and I share my pictures with everyone, I have recently started running and my former self comes with me on every run and to every race I do as a reminder of how far I have come. I have some that have a quote by my favorite runner on the back "The miracle isn't that I finished, the miracle is I had the courage to start."

I don't have a lot of "before" photos because I hated having my picture taken then. There is one pic though, that is absolutely horrific...it's me at my heaviest, shoving a forkful of lasagna into my mouth at a church potluck. I have 3 chins in the pic and my thighs are spilling over the chair. I didn't show that one to my husband until we'd been dating awhile because I didn't want to scare him off. The first thing he said when he saw it? "Who's that? Kinda looks like you, is that your cousin?" LOL!

Not until recently, after looking at old photos of me, did I realize how much weight I lost. 30 extra pounds makes a 5'2" person look so different, and I'm much happier living a healthier lifestyle. I was always so self-conscious about my weight, and now when I look in the mirror, I actually like what I see. It's a priceless feeling - well worth all my hard work. I'll definitely save those photos to remind me of how far I've come and of a place that I never want to be again.

I have one sitting right at my desk now to remind me of where I've come and where I want to go. I still have a ways to go (43 lbs) to goal, but have already come down 117. I love showing off how far I've come, and if my freaking scanner would work already I would have posted the pic here too. It's not even my worst - no pictures exist of that! I like to see it though, because I am extremely proud of my progress to date.

I got rid of 30 pounds, my acne, and excessive hairs, thanks to a hormonal treatment, diet and exercising. I wish I had a clear before picture to compare my nowadays myself. I still don't feel very confident and I wish I could evaluate my progress more easily and visually.

I admire anyone who has the cajones to post their worst photo. I do not have any photos of me on display... not even one. Sure there may be some bad pictures, but mainly, it has simply never occurred to me to frame photographs of myself.

I save them, but keep them hidden. Once in awhile I'll come across them and it's nice to look through them and see how far I've come.

I keep them - there are way too many and they cover the majority of my life for me to toss them out. There would literally be no trace of me as a child or adult. Everyone tells me though that I should feel proud when I look at them because I lost about 75 pounds, but they make me feel sad. I think everyone else is right but I can't make myself feel that way. That makes me even sadder because I do want to teach my daughter to love herself as she is, no matter what, but I'm going to have to hide all the old photos of me so she never hears me say "god what a cow I used to be". I wish I could be less shallow about this, but on the plus side, at least I can lead her by inspiration to healthier habits than the ones I used to have. :) imLissy, you were at Universal Studios! I have a picture of my husband in front of that same train. XD

My before pictures are so much better than my current ones, because I was 117 lbs then.

I had a great life and a lot of unforgettable experiences at my old weight and I do not want to forget them. They are framed all over my apartment as inspiration and to remind myself that my self-worth isn't wrapped up in what I look like but how I feel and the people I love and love me in return. When people who didn't know me at that size see the photos there is a general moment of disbelief but they get over it. I am proud of the work I put in and how great I feel now. No shame...ever!

I wouldn't let anyone take my picture. I only have 1 pic of my "Before" state, and it is amazing how much I have changed. Lately people I haven't seen in a while have told me that they didn't recognize me at first.

I'm not quite an after yet, so my Before pictures are just regular pictures still. I'm working on it though

in general i HATE having pictures of myself around - so anything that I've found that has the 'old' me in it gets torn up and thrown away. i agree that sometimes i can be inspirational to compare them to what you look like now, but i just get depressed.
