What Kind of Music Do You Listen to When You Work Out?

After years of rocking out while exercising, I recently downloaded Mahler's Sixth Symphony and have been listening to it on long runs. It's great, I swear. While I wouldn't listen to classical while doing intervals, this addition has opened up my workout music library. I am curious about you . . .

haha. I'm in the 1% of classical music listeners. i actually have versatile playlist but it's the same one i take with me everywhere, even to take a relaxing bath. Vivaldi and Enrico Caruso are great for post work out stretching and meditation.

where is electronica? awesome. also, where is the "most of the above" button? I listen to a lot of different kinds of music when i work out. if it has a good beat, it's on my ipod. i don't even care about the lyrics. much.

hip hop is the best music to work out to - it's got the best beats and attitude. when the rapper is saying 'i'm the greatest' it rubs off on you and makes you run faster!

Well, it depends where I'm running: if on the road, I don't listen to music (safety comes first) and instead I pray (yep, as in "Our Father, who art in heaven") I don't know if this is common, praying during workouts, but it really helps me put things in context, especially because for many, leasure exercise is an absolute luxury...Anyhow, in terms of what music I workout to, it varies between Jazz, Dance, Hip-Hop, Rock (but not metal) or whatever's on the radio

Depends on my mood however most of the time it is multi-genre. My top 5 tracks are: 1. Someday - Flipsyde 2. Girl For All Seasons - Northern State 3. Fall Behind Me - The Donna's 4. Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U) - Hi_Track 5. How Far We've Come - Matchbox Twenty

I'm a heavy metal listener anyway, so that's what's most likely to come up if I set the iPod to "shuffle." I'm also a fan of classic rock and the occasional '80s pop song.

I listen to all kinds of stuff...anything with a good rhythm and peppy music. This would include everything from Beastie Boys and Lady GaGa to John Philip Sousa marches. I know, I'm sort of weird, but I appreciate all kinds of music.

Indie and electronic music that could be called "indietronica". And I think it's kind of rude to be commenting on the lady's body. Who even knows if she knew her picture was being taken and now people feel the need to comment and judge.

I like to listen to uptempo music, like Pop but mostly Dance or Electronica. I listen to Goldfrapp's Supernature or Black Cherry a lot!

I listen to Podcasts, I get bored with music. I used to have a Sony AM/FM sport player and would always flip around between talk radio programs. I run outside and need the mental stimulation to keep it interesting.
