My husband used to be a ski instructor but sadly...it hasn't snowed once here in the Poconos! I started skiing as an adult and want to encourage you to take a lesson (group lessons are way cheaper than privates). They are so helpful and the instructors are always more helpful than friends, boyfriends, or husbands. Have fun!!! I actually live in frigid (typically) MN, and if it does manage to snow, it can be unbearably cold! So, whatever I do outside, it doesn't last long. So, I guess I will go with ice skating since I signed my boys up for lessons. Linda-McP 8 years Snow shoeing is wonderful--and it takes very little skill. Honestly, if you can walk, you can snow shoe. Now, if only we'd get some snow in western PA! I am determined to get good! :p DStirk 8 years i have never been so sore as when i tried a 5 hour snow boarding lesson... i am nore fitted (ha, not pun intended fit) to be in the ski lodge drinking irish whisky and preparing lunch for everyone out on the slopes. maybe i should be reading yum, more?! scratch5 8 years My sister lives in MN and has compained about the same thing. I like to alpine ski and am thinking of trying telemarking. My friends who live in the mountains love it. I am looking for more input so - any advice out there? Butrfly4404 8 years This was the first year I was adamant about getting out and doing winter activities (my mom was going to make a rink on her lake to skate) but in MN our winter has been pretty much RAIN. :( Can't do nice-weather stuff, can't do cold-weather stuff.
