Have You Worked Out in the New Year?

Getting in shape and kicking bad habits are always popular New Year's resolutions. People want to embrace change and start the year off on a good foot, which often means working out, eating healthy, and finding other ways to take care of one's self. And, let's be real, after an indulgent holiday season, many of us want to whittle down our waistlines.

I definitely am making an attempt to be even healthier this year than in year's past. For the first time that I can remember, my year did not start off with even the hint of a hangover or greasy brunch. I stuck to two glasses of champagne on NYE because I was more excited for my morning yoga class the next day. Since then, I've gone to my climbing gym, another yoga class, and have also stuck to a clean diet. Granted, we're only a few days into the year, but I am hoping to keep this momentum up until the ball drops in 2012. How about you?

Yes, twice so far. Thirty minutes of cardio machines on both days. By the end of this week, it will be four times, with 2 group classes (Pilates and Ab/Body Works) included.

does hauling down the xmas tree count? So far, nothing. Meant to go to cycle this morning but was just too cold outside ^^; excuses, i know. though tonight is a light run followed by yoga. tomorrow i plan on getting up early and start training for a 5K.

Yes! Jillian Michaels' DVD (although I didn't do the whole session), yoga and I hopped on my bike to go grocery shopping. :)

I'm a runner and read up on new ways to improve my training throughout the year. One way that I have decided to improve on my fitness level and stay committed to my resolution this year is to make myself run every single day this year, whether its only for one mile, or if it is a full marathon. I have made the commitment and keep a small planner and write in the mileage for each day. So far, I'm on track and am holding myself accountable.

Interval run yesterday with chest and back weights. Today was abs and long slow run, but I'm feeling pretty energetic, so I'm thinking burpees and sandbag slings tonight, too.

I skied on New Year's Day. It was lovely up in Tahoe. And did some yoga last night — today a lunch time run.

Yes! I even tried my first "spun" class on Jan 1. It was a 7-minute warm up, 20 minutes of spin, a half-mile jog on the indoor track, and then 20 more minutes of spin. Intense.
