Would You Be More Likely to Use a Treadmill at Home or at the Gym?

Some people have exercise equipment at home that's used more often as a drying rack.

Some women despise going to the gym more than going for their annual pap smear, and their well worn exercise equipment is a permanent fixture in their living rooms.

I think we can all agree - There's no way we could do this at the gym.

So which do you prefer? Would you be more likely to use a treadmill at home or at the gym?

I like the gym because I can't let my scatterbrain interfere whereas at home, I think I'd get off to answer the phone, switch the clothes to the dryer, etc. LOL

Tivo ans Treadmill - perfect together. You can run and catch up all all your favorite shows. It really helps to pass the time.

No gym for me, mostly for the reasons others have already mentioned. If I lived in a calmer climate, I think I would walk/run outside. But with the snow in winter and heat in summer, I prefer the treadmill, at home.

a treadmill at home is a clothes rack.

..Or even comparing myself to other bodies. Forgot to mention that!

I'm no gym rat. While the motivation is good when you're around other people, I would rather just keep away from the risk of being compared to other bodies.

Haha, I love the fact that you included a shot from the Ok Go video!! That thing is brilliance. When I had a treadmill at home I used to always use the "I'll run after this ____" excuse and would end up never really falling into a routine. Having to go to a gym really forces me to make a schedule, and I LOVE racing people nearby! Even if they have no idea that they're in a competition at all. :)

Spetan, If you live in the New England area I can give you my mother-in-law's older model Sears. She can no longer use it herself...

I would rather work out at home, but I don't have room for workout equipment. Especially cuz I like to use all of the cardio machines - bike, elliptical, and treadmill!

I was actually just looking into cheap treadmills. I know they say you get what you pay for with them, but I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I've seen a couple at WalMart and Sears--I figure I don't run that fast, so even if it broke on me, I probably wouldn't get hurt!

At first I thought I would prefer it at home, but I got a treadmill and now I don't use it at all. For me, it's best to separate your place to work out from your place to live. Yeah that Ok Go video is like the best music video ever made.

Crispet- the group is Ok Go! I love the vid, too, and have watched it a million times on youtube! If i could afford to buy a quality treadmill to have at home I would prefer to work out here, but since that's not in the cards right now I have to go to the gym and try and keep up with everyone else!

I don't have room for any equipment at home, so the gym is the only way for me. I like a gym when it's not busy and I can sweat and have the TV to myself. It gives me a bit of a walk to get my head together and then I have all that equiment to challenge myself with... I;m currently gymless and this commenting has reminded me to get moving and get back in the saddle again!

if i ran on a TM at home there would be way to many distractions to cut my time down, like the the couch for example.

I'd use it at home because I don't like knowing all my stuff is jiggling around while people are able to see me. I'm all in.
