Would You Use This Push-Up Counter?

Push-Up Counter: Cool or Not?

Hopefully you're all taking the Push-Up Challenge and working on doing as many as you can. Since you're so busy concentrating on correct form, it's hard to keep track of all the push-ups you're doing. Now you don't have to with this Push-Up Counter ($15). Just position your chin over the red button, and every time you lower down, you bop your chin on the button and it adds one to the readout you can see on the LCD screen. Hilariously enough, in case you were wondering, it can count up to 999 consecutive push-ups. Oh too bad, because I'm already doing like 2,000 push-ups in a row, so I guess I won't be needing this complicated device. All joking aside, tell me is it cool or not?

It would be good for people who just want to zone out and listen to music. Most people are so close-minded nowadays (online anyway). As soon as they see something they can't think of a need for, they criticize it without so much as a thought towards realizing a legitimate use for it.

there are much better ways of counting your push-ups, even if you prefer to use a gadget to do it.

It's kind of dorky. I can just count pushups while I do them.

I think for people who perhaps do in fact do quite a bit...my mind will sometimes wander when I'm doing weights, and I'll lose track of how many reps I've done. Other then that I find it a little 'useless invention'.

This is totally COOL because it makes you go all the way down, ie the PROPER way, so you get a better more effective push up. I see people at the gym bounce away going down maybe two inches thinking they are doing great. They do like 30 at a time with horrible form. They would benefit even MORE if they did it properly, but as few at 10.

It seems unnecessary when you can simply count out loud or in your mind. I guess maybe if you got up into the thousands, but I definitely won't be getting anywhere near that high.

kris sugar, I believe that's how far down you're supposed to go. My trainer always tells me to go lower, I guess I'm trying to cheat. He also always tells me to quit looking down. You're supposed to keep your head straight so I think hitting the button wouldn't hurt your form, it's pretty much where you should be. I suck SO bad at pushups, but I'm working on it!

I hate push ups and if I did push up s on a regular basis I wouldn't be able to do so many that I would need this, however, i could MAYBE see how someone in the military could use it or someone who is really big on doing a million push ups every night. It does give you one less thing to think about.

Sometimes I cheat a little and don't go down far enough... I think something like this would help... but then again, I could just put a block down or something and make sure I touch it.

is it good form to do that? i mean, to lower yourself far enough, and then jut your chin out to hit it? just wondering. it seems like you'd be straining neck and shoulder muscles. i'm probably putting too much thought into this!

Since I can only do 25 pushups at a time...I think I can count for myself and not lose track. If I got up to 999 maybe I would need it haha

Sorry I'm not going to smack my face on that when I can easily count myself.
