Are You Starving After Working Out?

I am usually starving after working out, even though I usually eat a little something beforehand. I've also talked to people who simply cannot eat after working out, so what about you?

I usually am not even hungry immediately after working out, but about an hour afterwards, I am STARVING!

Working out actually suppresses my appetite for a good hour or so after I'm done. I drink some water to rehydrate and then when I am hungry, I usually eat a yogurt or a hard boiled egg.

I am not hungry at all for an hour or two after working out. I just get super thirsty.

Starvation hits about an hour AFTER my work out.

I'm not starving, per se. I feel a little weak due to low blood sugar, I think. After my workout, I drink some milk I packed in my gym bag, and I'm fine.

I add a carb powder to my water called "Carbo Pro". It is colorless, tasteless and keeps me from crashing on long workouts. You used to only be able to find it online but you can find it at some sports stores now. When doing a longer (more than one hour) workout you should always have something to eat even if it is a GU packet or something added to your water. If you are feeling really tired and worn down after your workout you aren't filling your tank enough before and during you workout. Stuff like Cytomax and Accelerade are great too.

Totally! I try to eat a hard boiled egg or some kind of protein so I don't get cranky.

I workout in the evenings...around 6-7pm or so. Since i dont eat anything before my workout and i just drink tons of water during...im pretty hungry by the time its over. Plus...i hear that it's good to eat soon after your workout because your body is still in a calorie burning frenzy. :D

It may be psychological, but I'm always starving for protein after a workout. Eggs or fish or meat.

After weights I am usually starvingggg so ill eat a banana and then do some cardio but I am usually not hungry after cardio. I eat lunch anyway because I usually workout anywhere between 10am to 1pm (downtime between classes and such) so depending on when I start it is usually around lunchtime when I finish.

I generally work out in the mornings, and I eat a Balance Bare bar about 30 min before I get on the treadmill (while I'm driving to the gym). It tides me over in the morning so I don't feel sick (especially since taking a birth control pill on an empty stomach isn't fun for me), and gives me some energy to get through a long workout. By the time I've hit the showers and gotten ready to head into work, I've realized my hunger is gnawing at me, but I can placate it with a tall skinny vanilla latte from Starbucks (only 90 calories!) and then around 10:30 will have a piece of fruit or small packet of oatmeal.

I've been riding my bike a lot more lately and I'm STARVING after I get home. I ride a fixed gear though so the workout is a lot more intense than I feel like it is.

totally - esp after a run. thankfully, there's a jamba juice a scant block from my gym, so that cuts hunger and gives me some fruit!

I can be hungry BEFORE I work out and then not when I'm done. I guess I'm hesitant of reversing all the good work I did.

Im usually not hungry until about 30 min after my workout, and then bam! It hits me. But it's not the type of hunger that leads me to the junk food...its a good, fill my tummy with some yummy healthy food because ive earned it kind of hungry. I find that as long as i eat something an hour before working out im good until i get home, but if i dont then i seem to run the risk of grabbing something i shouldnt have. My one rule now is to eat an hour before working out...it really makes a difference.

If it's a pretty instense workout, I'm not hungry at all afterwards. An hour later, though, and I'm ready to eat everything in sight!

I can't eat after I just get done working out or it make me feel sick. Especially after a long run. But give me 30-45 min. and I'm STARVING!!!!!!

Usually I am pretty hungrey. Sometimes I am not though. It all depdns on what I ate that day and how hard I worked at the gym.But usually i have to drive home after, so that gives me time to really see if I am hungry or not. When I get home, I just eat something small like a granola bar or crackers :)

yeah sometimes but its usually thirst so I'll just drink some water or a Diet Pepsi which is actually quite filling

I lose more weight by NOT working out. When I work out, I eat more.

I'm not super hungry. I'm sure to eat during the day and before I go, then drink water during (every trainer/nutritionish/dr I've spoken to says to drink water during workouts) and then we come home and I make dinner. My problem is I'm usually super tired and don't want to make dinner. But I do anyway.

Not really. I may be a tad hungry but I always have something like an apple or salad.
