Bottomless Champagne Glasses: Love It or Hate It?

When I was in Spain over the holidays I was out and about looking for the perfect gift to give to my hostess for Reyes Mago (the Spanish equivalent to Christmas that falls on January 6). I went into one of my favorite Spanish home stores, Casa where all this great New Year's party stuff was on sale (it was right after New Year's). While there, I saw these bottomless champagne and thought wow, those are totally cool, I want them! Then I thought, wait a minute...what if you want to put your champagne glass down? You have to place it back in the champagne holder vase, not too practical, but they really look fun and come in pretty pastel colors. I still can't decide. What do you guys think: bottomless champagne glasses, love it or hate it?

I think they are unique. I had a set and they were broken. Can someone please tell me where I can find them and the exact name of them.

They are beautiful, but I can't see them ever being practical.

I have seen these before but in a plastic version. So that makes it more practical..when your done, you simply throw away,.

a friend got these as a housewarming present, and she put little decorative glass marbles and shred in the bottom of the vase to make the stems stand up, them planted fake flowers and potpourri in the glasses to make a cool flower arrangement. -the ceeg

I think they are cool, but think it would be hard to do things like, use the restroom, eat, dig through purse, etec. I'm all in.

A restaurant gave me some of these, and they look cool but I never use them because they're not practical.

They look nice, but they are NOT practical. If you want an excuse to replace your carpet, then buy these, serve lots and lots of champagne and then replace your sticky, messy carpet the next day.

I have seen these alot and and yes they are beautiful but not very practical. You can not put it down and that is hard when you are at a party eating, drinking, socializing and such. A much better idea for this... (and we have a set at home) is the shot glass equivalent. Since when you are drinking a shot its usually a one-two thing and the glass is empty and out of your hand. They are just as pretty... just not as tall! And you can fill the "vase" up with ice so you can serve your shots extra chilled! Maybe this is a better option for you also, PartySugar! http://www.theobsessionboxco.com/shglandicebu.html

OH! I got a set of these for a wedding present and was so disspointed. Not only is it impractical because people want to set their drinks down at different times (which causes drinks to be knocked and spilled)...and if you are sitting out of arms length of the glass bucket, it is VERY difficult to juggle anything other than the glass Preppy to the max!

I've seen the wine glass version and they were marketed for picnic baskets and the like, to be used outdoors and stuck in the grass. Something you'd take to a Shakespeare festival or a summer stock picnic.
