I too love Anthony Bourdain! I just joined this site, and the first thing I noticed was the tact and thoughtfulness of commenters. Thanks for being a cool community. :)

I'll be saving the link to his talk to listen to a little bit later one. I totally love Anthony Bourdain! I think it's his "bad boy" aura or something. And it doesn't hurt that I adore his sense of humor too!

If I was I just couldn't waiver, I would feel like I was giving less than 100% and I don't like to do that.

This is true, to each their own.

There's also always something to be said for health based vegetarianism.
michichan michichan 8 years
Fair enough. I may not be the most die-hard vegetarian, but any difference you make is something, right?
aimeeb aimeeb 8 years
Most people are vegetarian because of their beliefs behind it and hw strongly they feel. I know I am with different aspects of my life. I just question someone who would call themselves one but then throw it and their beliefs out the window because some restaurant doens't have a vegetarian friendly menu.

No I'm not but I have a best frend who is.

Sounds like you're a life-long veg, Aimee-am I right?
michichan michichan 8 years
Aimee, I've been a vegetarian for 4 years and every so often I think flavour overcomes a perfect track record. Maybe I'm more of a flexitarian though.

so hot. in that slightly jerk-tasticly hot way. kitchen confidential made me fall in love.

If you've practiced something your whole life and believe in it, you're not going to make an exception just because say, The Cheesecake Factory has a limited vegetarian friendly menu. That's a little absurd.
aimeeb aimeeb 8 years
michichan make exceptions?? Ummmm no. Why would you do that??
michichan michichan 8 years
Hah! He almost seems the type

I love love love love him! Next time he is in town, yum, we will have to invite him to a dive bar!!!
michichan michichan 8 years
I think even vegetarians gotta make exceptions. Especially when restaurant options are so limited.

love love love him! when he was in dc someone did a similar interview with him, and in the "on vegetarians" part he referred to bacon as the "gateway protein" :-P i know that bacon is pretty much the main reason i could never be a vegetarian, so that quote only added to my love of all things bourdain

I love his comment about vegetarianism. It is tough to be a vegetarian and a foodie, particularly a globe trotting one. Great story!

Woo-hoo Lafayette! That's my home town. I love Anthony Bourdain, I went to his book signing at the ferry building in SF and he was great!

See, to me Sandra Lee and Rachel Ray are on an equal pedistal when it comes to creepy. Seriously-I wouldn't want to meet either of them in a dark alley unless I was heavily armed with triscuits, a cocktail and some EVOO. TO-tally respect his feelings on most of these subjects; way to show both the strenghts and weaknesses of the celebrity chefs! Except when it comes to Alton...God help you if you insult my Alton...

Love his books, love his show. If you haven't seen him on the Travel Channel, you've got to TiVo it. Makes places that you might not normally be interested in seem really great. Now I probably wouldn't put half of what he puts in his mouth in mine, but I give him credit for doing it. And he's funny as can be.

Ah, thanks Athena. :) I don't know any vegetarians and I definitely come from a "How can you NOT eat meat?" culture, so I get it :)

I love his "brashness" and honesty. Great answers! So is Sandra Lee good or evil? Good answer. :-)
