Here's one that I've seen at Whole Foods, BevMo, and my local liquor shops: Buffalo Bill's America's Original Pumpkin Ale ($8 for six-pack). The amber-style ale claims it is brewed with fresh roasted pumpkins, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg. Plus, the large pumpkin image on the label offers a hopeful promise this ale is all about its pumpkin flavor, but find out if its marketing schemes accurately portray what's inside the bottle.
Flavor wise, tasters boasted that the beer was "yummy" and one of their "favorites." However, many could hardly detect the pumpkin flavor and "wished there was more pumpkin." Some picked up on the pumpkin nose, and others could taste the "good pumpkin pie spices." Those who aren't typically a fan of pumpkin beers enjoyed the subtlety, while others expected the pumpkin-ness to be more pronounced. However, even without the expectation of pumpkin, tasters still enjoyed this beer for its full body, dry, refreshing taste, and slightly bitter finish, making it ideal for a Fall celebration.
