Is Cooking A Chore Or A Pleasure?
Aug 21 2007 • By
I feel like it's a chore if it's just for yourself or if you're hungry while you're doing it, but doing it for other people is more enjoyable.
Love discovering new recipes. Sometimes it's a chore, like when I'm tired or rushed or don't have the right ingredients on hand. But it's definitely enjoyable when my plan is on and I have the time.
The daily dinner is more of a chore to me. But when I'm planning a special meal or baking, then I love.
I love cooking and baking... but especially if someone else cleans up after me. When I cook, I think I just throw seasonings and spices and diced vegetables around my kitchen like confetti. Baking is more scientific, and I can usually plan my mess better. Actually, I just love food. I'm a huge fan of food... growing it, eating it, cooking it, looking at pretty pictures of it...
I really love to cook, but during the week it seems to become more a chore than a pleasure. Coming home after work and trying to prepare a creative & healthy meal (that doesn't take hours) for my husband and son every night becomes quite tedious.
Its a pleasure but its also a chore for me since I take care of my mother so I do all the cooking and meal planning.
Always a pleasure for me I love it !!That's the only room in my house that is strictly mine LOL .I try to keep my kitchen fully stocked because i'm usually coming up with different ideas for recipes and there is no shortage of family and friends who like to eat.....
I am loving cooking more and more. It's a great way for me to unwind when I get home from work. And I love creating new things, even if it's just to know that I will never make them again (like last night- sweet potato fries I didn't care for).
I love cooking! However I do go through phases where I just can't be bothered. Those are the pizza or mac and cheese nights.
Mrktmstr is so right.
I wouldn't hate cooking if I didn't have to clean up afterwards. Since it's a big mess, I hate it.
Agree with all of you who bemoan the clean-up side of the equation. Icky-poo. Where are the elves this single mom needs to unload and reload the dingdang dishwasher after midnight? That said... I've discovered after a couple of years of working from home (hallelujah to the internet gods) that it's therapeutic to be able to let go of my mouse and go chop up a shallot or a red bell pepper in the middle of the day, prepping for the evening salad as an alternative to sending an inflammatory email to a clueless boss or an idiot customer. Sometimes I find that's what makes COOKING a PLEASURE.
I've always LOVED to cook ... it's the clean up that bugs me, haha!!
A pleasure, I love cooking :)
I love baking and cooking. The more I do it, the more I like it.
I love everything about cooking. I keep a running list so I never run out of anything and have a stocked freezer and pantry so I can make anything I'm in the mood for. For me, it's guaranteed downtime every day and I get a lot of thinking done while I chop and slice and simmer. And I'm lucky. I don't wash the dishes. My fiance does all that.
It deends on how hungry I am. But I'm with you, rothchild.
it is the cleaning that is a chore :(
Such a pleasure to watch someone whole-heartedly enjoy what you have made...I love it!
I'm with tee0206, cooking for me is a total pleasure when someone else does the cleaning. And like caterpillargirl, it is indeed therapeutic for me. It's my Zen time--I totally zone out in the process.
Its theraputic. When i make eggplant parmesean..all the steps...its like doing yoga
I love cooking because it's one of the more simple pleasure. I just wish I know how to organize my time enough to have more time to cook, it's kind of hard when you have a 2 yrs old holding on to your leg when you're trying to move around the kitchen preparing dinner. I wish my hubby is more hands-on about watching our son when I'm cooking instead of letting him have the run of the kitchen!
cooking is a necessary evil for me. it's a chore making but eating is so much fun!
I love cooking love it, love it, love it in my family everybody wants me to cook everyday.
cooking is a chore, but baking is a therapeutic pleasure.
