Do You Know the World's Soups?

Do You Know the World's Soups?

January is the dead of Winter, so it only makes sense that it's also National Soup Month. There's nothing quite like a steaming hot bowl of soup to warm the stomach and spirit. Since every culture in the world has soup in its repertoire, I'm going to test your knowledge of soups from around the globe. I'll name the ingredients, and you guess the soup. Ready? Let's get slurping!

I'm the queen of borsch as my grandgrandma and my grandma grew up were it was traditional and i can tell you right now it's not borsch what you called :D it's something like cold borsh which is Lithuania/Belarusian/Ukranian but you use kefir and add cucumbers and eggs and potatoes. And real borsch is served hot and no beets are involved, but tomatoes. If you involved beef stock and beets than it svecolnic. Which translates into "beet soup". I bet the other soups that i know nothing about you wrote wrong as well :D Stupid stupid americans...

I think that description of borscht is actually a description for Salitbarsci, a traditional cold soup from the Baltic states.

I agree with the borscht is NOT cold and doesn't have yogurt. Maybe finished with a bit of sour cream, but not yogurt!

French onion soup is not served with croutons but a medium slice of bread which is toasted and the cheese melted on top. I would call it a crouton

I like to throw a bit of extra butter in when I'm making canned clam chowder. Mm. Guess what's for lunch?

I agree with the other comments... I'm Polish we definitely do not serve our borscht cold or with yogurt in it.
