My cat even loves trying to get a sample while she watches me. geohiker 8 years I always do, to taste for seasoning and to remember my grandmother. She used to tell me about cooking when she was young (in farm country); all the women would cook and the men would eat first, leaving the women to eat whatever was leftover.
