The difference between the Argentinian Dulce de Leche and the Mexican Cajeta is the molasses. The Dulce de Leche uses regular sugar and it's so light that you can eat the whole jar in a day... !! To do it by boiling a can of condensed milk place a towel on the bottom of the pan. Is necessary to maintain the can covered with water AT ALL TIMES. So you need to add water as it boils down. Turn the can at least twice throughout the process for it to cook evenly. It takes about 2 hours to get the right consistency and flavor. Enjoy! If someone wants I'll post the home made way to make it, it takes about 4 hours to make about 2 pounds - but is out of this world!!

In Mexico we call it "cajeta" :) sooo goodie! I just made a flan with "cajeta" on top, tastes reaaally good! :)

Yummy! I love dulce de leche. It's great over ice cream, apples, donuts, etc., but it's also good all by itself.

Is soooo good! In Venezuela and Colombia is call Arequipe. And you can make your own just putting a can of sweetened condensed milk in a pot with boiling water and cook it for several hours. :drool:
