Americans Tried Cuban Coffee For the First Time and Here's What Happened

Escargot: Love It or Hate It?

Recently I had dinner at Grand Cafe, a great old-school French restaurant here in San Francisco. The meal was excellent and I ate far too much. One of the things I enjoyed is the dish pictured here. It's classic escargot baked with lots of butter, garlic, white wine, and breadcrumbs. It was so good I wanted to lick the gratin ramekin. While I understand that eating snails is not for everyone, I happen to love the delicacy. How do you feel about it? Would you eat Grand Cafe's escargot?

I've never tried it. As much as the idea of eating snails weirds me out I'd still really love to try them. I live it a regional area and getting decent cheese or coffee is difficult enough. A French restaurant let alone one serving escargot...not going to happen!

Love it! And this post prompted to order escargot at a cozy bistro in Midtown NY last night. I love dipping frites into the butter garlic sauce. YUM!

No thanks, I can't get past the snail part! It looks good and probably is but I just couldn't try it! Insects really creep me out!

Super  And I, too, prefer bread on the side to breadcrumbs; but I'm not that picky if you're serving with breadcrumbs.

I would try them, but I'm worried I would hate the texture. That's why I don't eat a lot of shellfish, and snails are shell-dwellers as well.

Never had it, but I'm fairly certain just about anything would taste pretty good drenched in butter and garlic and breadcrumbs.

I had escargot for the first time this week! At a French restaurant in Santana Row in San Jose. Yum! It tasted like mushrooms.

I've only had them a few times, but they are sooo good. If I were to abandon veganism for a meal, I would choose escargots!

I like them without the breadcrumbs, but with bread served on the side, so then you can dip the good crusty baguette into the garlicky butter. It's the only time I ever eat butter. SO GOOD.
