Extra-Strong Cocktails

Do You Enjoy Cocktails Extra Potent?

Last time I went to a restaurant and ordered a mint julep, I got a surprise that I was not prepared for. "Here's your julep," my server said. And as if she was doing me a favor, she added, "I asked the bartender to make it super minty and extra strong for you!" The drink turned out to be a little intense for my taste. But since the waitress said it in such a positive way, the situation got me wondering how many people would prefer a stronger drink.

I don't like when they make my cocktails too sweet, salty, or sour... but extra booze? Bring it on!

Yes, more bang for your buck and for your calories.

I like sweet drinks but don't want many, one strong drink sipped for hours as the ice waters it down is best for me. I long a Longbeach with lots of grenadine. It's strong but it tastes like Hawaiian Punch.

No, I don't like them extra strong because it sort of tastes a little too alcohol-y for my tastes.

I said yes, but not because I want more bang for my buck. It's because I usually can't drink sugary sweet drinks, typically the mixers are what make me sick. So I stick to good quality vodka, on the rocks with a twist. Every once in a while I'll get something else, like a martini or a vodka tonic.

If I want a potent drink, I'll make it a point to order one. But if I order something that's not normally potent, I don't want it to be too strong.

Maybe if I'm really trying to get hammered (oh to be 17 again) but pretty much no. I'd rather a normally mixed drink, so I don't get a sick feeling, and I'd be able to keep drinking and enjoy myself. If it's too strong, it might turn me off. It's happened before. Sometimes I order doubles, but I usually ask for them in a bigger glass so it doesn't taste stronger, it's just more booze in one glass with a same ratio of mix.
