Food Network Show Extreme Chef Premieres June 30

Are You Over Cooking Reality TV Shows?

Between the Top Chef franchise, Next Iron Chef, and Food Network Star, there are probably enough reality TV cooking competitions to comprise an entire network. But the buck doesn't stop there.

On June 30, Food Network's Extreme Chef will air, taking a set of brave chefs to a new level of thrill and adventure. We're talking gathering ingredients from a bucket of rattlesnakes, cooking off a hot car engine, and making a meal on a deserted island! Exciting stuff, people.

I've got to be honest: my enthusiasm for cooking reality TV shows has long waned. And with America's Next Great Restaurant getting canceled, and an utterly lackluster Top Chef Masters 3, I can't help but think the rest of the country's interest has ebbed, too.

Over all reality shows. I actually cancelled my cable back in April. I was studying and training was starting up. There were only a few shows I liked anyway. I watch them online now.

Yes I am so over it. Admittedly I will watch Chopped from time to time. But other than that, I am out.

I never liked them in the first place. But then, I don't like any of the competition shows on TV save for Big Brother, but that's all about the drama. ;)

I just have very bare bones cable, so my eyes and ears haven't been fully assaulted. But even Gordon Ramsay's shows have grown tiresome. Did I just say that? *scratching head*

The only one I'll watch is Masterchef - but it's about amateurs so I'm not sure if it counts. :) It seems like one that they actually cast for talent, not personality.

I am so over these crazy chef competitions. It seems like all the participating chefs want is fame.
