I too am trying to be more conscious of my spending. I think mostly it's time for me to grow up and start doing more saving for the future. I used to go out to eat ALL the time and beg my friends to come with me. Now it's reversed! They have to work hard to talk me into it. :)

I go out for lunch everyday at work, but when my fiancee and I want to go out for dinner we go out. Sometimes it is cheaper and easier to go out then it is to cook dinner.

My husband eats out every day for lunch and most nights is family dinner out and about. Sometimes is just so much better than making something. We all have different things we want for dinner. For example my son is in love with rice tofu and broccoli but my husband and I need more flavor!

i think eating in is a great way to both save money, given the current economy situation but also a good way to watch what you eat. even if i eat the same things i would order at a restaurant at home, chances are they will be cheaper and have less calories...

We eat out at local restaurants about 2x per week and I have meetings out more often where I eat or have beverages out. We're watching what we order more than ever though.

I DEFINITELY eat out WAAAAAAY less. Not just is the economy worse, but I took a paycut when I moved from freelance to staff. My wallet is clamped shut!I actually just made out a grocery list entitled "Food I Need & Can Afford".It's sad, my bf & I used to eat out pretty frequently. NICE restaurants about twice a week, and fast restaurants (but still a step above fast food), about 3 times a week. Now it's nice restaurants once a month or so, and fast restaurants only 3 or 4 times a MONTH!

Until recently I lived in NYC and ordered delivery almost every night, now that my husband and I moved to his home town in Western MI and have our own real kitchen we eat in a lot and only go out on special occasions or when we are traveling. I love having a kitchen! Much healthier and saves money!

During the week I always make and bring my lunch to work. However, I go out to eat dinner or a meal on the weekends at least 2 times a week. I have always just factored it into my budget.

I haven't changed my eating out habits ... it's easier than dragging groceries home every night and cooking when I'm already exhausted. I'm not into buying loads of food because I now more food goes to waste than gets eaten.

My boyfriend and I used to eat out very often, but have found that actually cooking at home is quite fun together. These days, we rarely eat out because we're outside grilling almost every night.

We at out on special occasions. I actually enjoy eating at home and usually end up unsatisfied with my food when I eat out.

i eat out occasssionally. basically my boyfriend and i will eat dinner out on friday night (at the diner) and we'll eat brunch on the weekends at a diner. we're always being cost conscious and really we don't spend all that much money. we try to save since there are definitely a lot more important things to spend $$ on.

I'm in the throes of final exams and don't have time to cook. I make myself pb&j sandwiches when I can, but always eat out more during such times.

Another reason to eat at home is for your diet. At home you are in control of what goes into your food, at a restaurant you have no idea what is really in your food.
