Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

On behalf of YumSugar and I we would like to wish all of the doting dads out there a very Happy Father's Day! To our own fathers we appreciate all of the love and support you have unconditionally provided us over the years. I personally have to thank my father for teaching me how to cook! One of my earliest memories is making brownies with Dad. He told me to put my blanket away because it might get chocolate-y. Being the rebellious 3 year old that I was, I didn't listen and ended up getting chocolate all over my blanket proving to me at an early age that dads are seldom wrong! How about you? What fond food memories do you have of your father? What dish do you enjoy sharing with dad? Did your dad cook??

My dad makes the best chicken and dumplings I've ever had! He's a great cook, that shares dinner duties with my mom. Maybe it is because of all the memories I have of my parents in the kitchen preparing dinner together, that has made the act of cooking dinner a partners activities in my life. The kitchen is not a place to be alone! When a man can help his wife cook dinner, it shows the respect he feels for her.

my dad has a greenhouse so he always has fresh herbs and veggies to add to pasta, meat, etc. my dad is probably the best cook in the family (sorry mom....;)

So, this is kind of weird. But I always remember during the winter my dad would make a whole a big batch of hot chocolate and toast. We would dip the toast in the hot chocolate. It's surprsingly good.

My parents used to own a chinese restaurant and when I was little, my dad would always let me help him make a few of the egg rolls and paper wrapped chicken (mine were a bit haphazard though lol) and then he would fry mine up for me and I would sit on his lap and share them with him. Thankyou yumsugar, I hadn't thought of that memory in a while! = ) Happy Fathers Day!!

I don't remember this memory because I was only 3 or 4, but since I'm the youngest the rest of my family loves to remind me because my dad is no Mr. Mom, and I ruined his chance at baking glory! I'm very thin (we all are), even though I'm tall now I was a tiny, tiny, kid and the one and only time my dad attempted to surprise my mom by making her an Angel Food Cake for her birthday he was cooling it on the counter while he left me in my high chair with my Cheerios that I suppose weren't looking as good as the cake. I ate 2/3rd of the cake all by myself! He hasn't made another cake since, but I still love Angel Food Cake! Though I couldn't eat 2/3rd of it in one sitting, I'm secretly quite proud of myself I could eat that much then! Now today I'll be the one making our dinner, while he golfs, and if I listed all the good things he's done for me, no one else would have a chance to post! So Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

Aww, those pics are so cute! My dad leaves most of the cooking to my mom, but his specialty is breakfast. When we were growing up he would often do the big weekend breakfast with eggs, toast, pancakes, etc..., yumm :)
