Happy Hour: Cilantro Martini

I met two of my oldest gal pals for happy hour at Two restaurant here in San Francisco. We sat at the bar and acted the way long time girlfriends usually do when they see each other: giddy. Laura, who is a member of the staff at Two, told me that I had to try the cilantro martini. Using cilantro to infuse a cocktail?! Pure genius! This cocktail was smooth and refreshing - an absolutely excellent aperitif. My tastebuds were souring, my palette tantalized, and my heart racing (not from the drink but from the very cute bartender!). Like any resourceful party gal I ran home and worked out the recipe on my own. Like cilantro? Like vodka? Make this cocktail for your next happy hour! To get the recipe just

Cilantro Martini

  2. Add vodka and gin shake well.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail shaker and enjoy.

It doesn't seem like cilantro and vodka go together.I would try it though.

Vodka + anything = I will probably drink it, and I think that goes for cilantro!

I cannot stand cilantro either, but I'd probably give it a try, maybe it works...maybe.

Sounds interesting. I'd definitely try it. It kind of looks like soup, though. I wonder if you could infuse the cilantro into the syrup somehow... Maybe not...

EWW! Out of all the spices/herbs out there, I absolutely detest cilantro. I always request for it not to be on my plate. Reading this makes me cringe! :)

No gracias. Cilantro needs not to be anywhere but Mexican food (sorry, I know this makes me a bad foodie, but I dont love it).

Am I the only one who think Cilantro tastes like what I think Comet (the cleaner) would taste like!? I've heard you love the stuff or hate it, and I'm definitely in the not diggin' it group! I am about to enjoy some Caipirinha's this fine (almost) summer evening!
