Many moons ago, I lived in the mountains of western Maryland. There was a joint on Rt. 15 just north of Frederick that had the whole scene, newspaper covered tables, wooden mallets, and bowls of melted butter and cocktail sauce. They brought you blue crabs by the BUCKETFUL, and, paired with ice cold beers, it was a FEAST !!!

syako I'm with you, never been to one, but thinking that a Low Country boil might be the same thing?

Hmm... if this is a bay thing... then I'm gonna have to look up the ones around here (maybe in Savannah???)...See, my mouth's watering already...

Yeah I've been, but we don't call it a "crab feed" in Maryland. Crab feast maybe. I from blue crab country in the Eastern Shore of MD. We know how to crack em! haha

Such things do not exist in this neck of the woods, but we do have crawfish boils and I've been to plenty of those. :)

I live in Maryland within a few feet of the bay so my dad had me out on his boat catching crabs and fish while i was still in diapers. Crab feasts in the summer are a huge part of our culture. I definitely miss them when I have moved to other parts of the country.

Um, I live in Wisconsin. We do not have crab boils/crab feeds/etc. unless you count the Krab salad they have at the all-you-can-eat buffets, lol. I'd love to go out to Maryland with my husband next time he has to go out to Aberdeen for business...apparently, crabs are a lot more plentiful out there.

YES! In Hokkaido, Japan. Best food ever. It was during the Snow Festival in Sapporo and the crab was in season. SOOOOO GOOD!

There is one every week somewhere in northern Ca. They are popular fundraisers. Usually for $25-35 you can eat fresh crab for hours. Usually served with pasta, garlic bread (pass on both) and salad. Perfect with a large group of friends!

We do this every summer in Philly. Usually before Odunde. So manys different dips and recipes. Boiled, baked, and always lots of newspaper. My family saves cartons of newspaper to prepare for this each year.

I haven't been to one since I was really young... like 7 or 8. I don't know if I would be down for one these days.
