A girl in my 3rd grade class from Ethiopia brought it and we all tried that brownish red stuff in the middle that looks like meat. Everyone got sick after trying it. 3 kids threw up. It was not a pleasent expierience as you can imagine so I doubt i'll be trying it again years later.

no, i haven't yet - but a lot of the food i had growing up was a mixture of east african (kenyan etc) and gujarati so kind of like ethiopian in terms of texture and consistency. a lot of eating with hands and such.

Funny this post came up today- an Ethiopian restaurant just opened near my house today. I've never tried (or really know anything about) Ethiopian food, but I'll definitely try it out after all these favorable posts.

No - I haven't tried it but I am very much wanting to. I thoroughly enjoy Moroccan food and they seem to be similar.

I had it made by native Ethiopians and it was fantastic. One of the coolest things was watching them roast their own coffee beans for the coffee cermony. For DC folks, I've heard Dukem is good and Marakesh in Adams-Morgan (recommended by Ethiopians I know).

It was pretty good. I had it at Makeda, in New Brunswick, NJ, just off the Rutgers campus. You can choose to sit at a Western-style table or traditional basket weave tables where you share a communal plate. There's a nice little African art gallery attached to the restaurant, too.

I think so. I went to a wedding where the bride was Ethiopian and the groom was Ugandan. They had dishes from both places. If I am remembering correctly I may have tried a small amount of it, but I preferred the Ugandan food.

i have tried it and it didn't like it...personally didn't enjoy the consistency & felt like the food needed some flavoring..maybe it was just a bad experience..

So good! Great Ethiopian restaurant in Berkeley right near the school. Not any fabulous ones in the city from what I recall. I think they all closed.
