Have You Started Grilling Yet?

This weekend, I kick-started the 2011 grilling season by making some finger-licking good ribs. Although it was a too cold to enjoy the meal outside, I couldn't wait a minute longer to fire up the grill. There's something so wonderful about the smell of a just-lit barbecue in the air. How about you? What have you grilled?

Yes! While I will grill year round, I tend to cook out more in the summer time. This past weekend I made Orange and Ancho Chili Surf & Turf kebabs after spending the day getting the backyard cleaned up for summer enjoyment. http://www.maddhatterskitchen.com/outdoor-cooking/orange-and-ancho-chili-surf-turf-kebabs

I live in South Texas, so there's only about a week every year when we can't grill! :)

Nope - but we moved the grill from the garage to the deck so I'm just waiting for some decent weather.

One thing I love about living in the Bay Area is the ability to grill almost year-round at home. A few weeks ago, it was just some large shrimp marinated in butter, olive oil, lemon, and dill. Super yummy!

Yes, hot dogs and burgers for Mother's Day. Set off some fireworks too! My family was joking, we're setting off firecrackers while everyone else is sitting down to Sunday dinner, complaining about "Damn rednecks shooting off fireworks on Mother's Day."
