Keep things simple at your holiday happy hour. Instead of hosting a full bar, offer one festive pitcher of drinks. This vibrant red concoction takes its hue from fresh pomegranate juice and grenadine. Make several batches and store in the fridge. When one pitcher is empty, fill it with the drink that's ready and waiting in the fridge.

- about 1 1/2 pomegranates or 1 cup pomegranate juice
- 3/4 cup dark rum
- 1/2 cup grenadine
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 cup club soda or seltzer
- ice cubes
- Cut whole pomegranate in half and with a manual citrus juicer squeeze enough juice from halves, pressing sides against center of juicer and pressing on any whole seeds in juicer with thumbs, to measure 1 cup.
- Just before serving, in a 1 1/2-quart pitcher stir together pomegranate juice, remaining ingredients, and enough ice to fill pitcher.
