Instant coffee often receives a bad rep, but 37 percent of you seem to like it just fine. Although the instant version is basically regular ground coffee that has been freeze-dried, there are a lot of people that feel that the taste is not up to par.
I've been using a number of ingredients to make my Starbucks VIA i nstant coffee taste like it's store-bought. Not only is it saving me bucks, but it makes me feel like a Starbucks barista! Read on to find out the many ways to dress up your cuppa instant joe.
Taste of Cocoa
Instant coffee tasting too . . . instant for you? Throw in some cocoa powder or chocolate syrup to make your drink taste more mocha-like.
Pinch of Spice
To give your instant coffee an extra kick, try adding spices to it. Add cinnamon to remind you of the holidays or even some dried minty herbs to make your own peppermint. Other spices to consider adding include nutmeg, allspice, vanilla beans, and cloves.
Chunks of Refreshing Ice
Ice coffee is certainly refreshing on a sunny day, so if you're craving for a cold drink, mix your instant coffee in a blender with some chunks of ice. Blending both will not only cool it down, it will also give the drink a richer texture.
Gulp of Fresh Milk
Dousing the instant coffee with a lot of milk gives it the illusion of tasting like a latte. Choose from soy, rice, or plain milk and if you want your coffee hot, heat it up before you mix it in. If you're don't mind something heavy, add cream to thicken the mixture or top your drink with whipped cream.
Indulge in Sweets
I definitely need a little bit of sugar in my coffee, and I love using honey in my drinks. I think it tastes more natural than sugar, but that's just my preference. Alternatively, you can sweeten your instant drink with maple syrup, brown sugar, or even flavored milk.
