Jello: Love It or Hate It?

Gelatin: Love It or Hate It?

Perhaps it's the fact that Julia Child's chart-topping tome, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, features an array of aspics. Maybe it's because we're in an era when gourmands are obsessed with playing with their food. Or the fact that Jell-O is a cheap and cheerful thrill during a sweltering economic downturn. Either way, the retro favorite Jell-O appears poised to make a comeback. Nevertheless, with its jiggly quality and slippery texture, gelatin's always been somewhat of a polarizing food. What do you think of it?

I love gelatin. Jell-O is delicious but can only be enjoyed either in cubes or with a plastic spoon.

Jello, IMHO, is NOT food. It's a byproduct of animal joints. It's so disgusting! The texture is too slippery/thick...it makes me want to gag. The only, and I mean the ONLY, thing it's good for is for putting in other recipes as a thickener. Otherwise, eating it plain reminds me of eating petri dishes. Kinda gross.

I think Jell-O manufacturers should be required to list the REAL ingredients on the package. I'm amazed at how many people don't realize what geletin is.

I hate Jell-O. I don't like the consistency of anything jelly related. :(

it's made from hooves! Hooves of amimals, There is however a vegetarian gelatin that is plant based. Unless you like that sort of thing...

JELLO!!!! Yum i love it. No aspics though, nothing in my jello ruins the texture, i love the silky, fruity, slippery, squishy texture, it's an awesome food!

I especially like gelatin as a summer treat, when all I want to eat are cold things. My husband juiced a bunch of blackberries a couple weeks ago and used a cup of the juice to make strawberry jello. The result and strangely tart and wonderful. (I only got a bite--he devoured the rest.)
