Krispy Kreme Offers a Lightly Glazed Doughnut

Krispy Kreme Lightens Up . . . Sort Of

Here's one for the "Do we really need these?" books. The folks at Krispy Kreme have decided to offer a limited edition Lightly Glazed doughnut. From now until March 23, you can get a doughnut that is "lightly" drizzled with their signature Original Glaze. I haven't found any nutritional info on these doughnuts, but something tells me that given the amount of glaze, it can't be that much better for you. What do you guys think? Do we need a lightly glazed doughnut? Will you be headed out to try one?

No, when I have a donut, it better be glazed and stuffed with berry filling AND have sprinkles on top. Oh yeah, I only have a donut about once every 6 months.

Um... yeah. If I'm going to Krispy Kreme I am NOT going to be in a place where I care about how much fat I am stuffing into my face. At all. I can see where it'd be ok for people who find the donuts too sweet, though. (I am not one such person.)

the glaze is hardly the "bad" part on a doughnut. Geez....what's the point of cutting that back when its still fried in fat!

Just heard on the news a few nights ago that Krispy Creme is shutting all of their shop's doors in Minnesota. They weren't widely grooved upon here, I guess! I've had a couple of them, and they didn't live up to the hype. But if I'm gonna have a donut, I want all the goodies. No "light" version for me! Where is the fun in that?

it looks as if the icing is so thick that if you would just spread it out, it would be about the same amount as the original, maybe a little less. but perhaps that is just the picture. depending on how many calories it knocks of, it could be worth it on one of those days you just have to have a doughnut. but if i'm ever in the mood for a doughy pastry, i usually go for a danish... so light or no, it's doubtfull i'll be buying it.

I have a donut weakness, so I steer clear of Krispy Kreme.

Might as well just start pasting those donuts to your arms, butt, thighs, and stomach.. Mhmmm. No thanks!

When I was a kid, my dad would take my brother and me to Krispy Kreme every Saturday morning. I'd have one sprinkle doughnut and one original glazed! We did that for many years, but the tradition kind of faded away when we got older and our schedules got busier. I don't know if I've eaten a doughnut since then. I guess they really don't appeal to me anymore--maybe I ate too many! But still, it's a fun memory.

no way! the original is fine with me, no drizzled glaze will come between me and my original!
