When Brooklyn-born and -raised Bridget Firtle started her own small-batch distillery called the Noble Experiment, she was in for a life-changing adventure. Leaving her job working for a hedge fund to start this business was life-changing in a big way . . . sort of like getting married is life-changing in a big way! So to help take that edge off a bit, and add some deliciousness to the experience, it seemed fitting to share this floral cocktail made from her distillery's rum, a spirit that is as full and memorable as the special day of your wedding.
Luck You Got Cocktail
Makes 1 cocktail
For the lavender syrup:
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 1/2 heaping tablespoons of fresh culinary lavender
1 1/2 heaping tablespoons of dried culinary lavender
For the cocktail:
1 1/2 ounces of white rum such as Owney's
3/4 ounce of lavender syrup
1/2 ounce of maraschino liqueur, such as Luxardo
1/2 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice
Dried lavender for garnish
- Make the lavender syrup: In a small saucepan, bring to a boil 1 cup of water, the sugar, and lavender.
- Let cool, and strain through a fine-mesh strainer.
- Make the cocktail: Add the rum, lavender syrup, maraschino liqueur, and lemon juice to a cocktail shaker filled with ice; shake vigorously and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a pinch of dried lavender.
