Let's Dish: Hell's Kitchen the Season Finale

Let's Dish: Hell's Kitchen the Season Finale

Last night on Hell's Kitchen, Christina and Petrozza faced off in a culinary showdown. Each had to run the pass, manage their team, and control the quality of the food. It was fun to see the old contestants up to their usual antics in the kitchen and it was lovely to hear the kind words Gordon Ramsay had to say about the final two.

To chat about the finale and the (spoiler alert!) winner,

.

  1. Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen?
  2. Who had the stronger team?
  3. Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom?
  4. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation?
  5. Whose menu was more exciting?
  6. Didn't Petrozza's lobster strudel look unappetizing?
  7. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen?
  8. Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic?
  9. Did Christina deserve to win?
  10. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza?
  11. Overall, what did you think of this season?

Oh Gordon, I will miss spending my Tuesday nights with you! Here are some of my favorite Ramsayisms from the season finale:

  • On Petrozza's appetizers: We can't run out of strudel and the frisee salad! We can't take two of the appetizers off. This is your f**king night you.
  • On Christina's slow kitchen: Look all this food over here! Come on now we're backed up now. Christina step up please, yes?
  • On Matt's monkfish: It's raw in the middle! Matt how can you do that to her? I can't stand here and let that go! You're f**king useless, come here you listen to me f**k face. Would you mind shutting the f**k up and concentrate, yes?
  • On Christina's control of her team: Hey look at me right now. You have one awkward fish in your kitchen. Organize it!
  • On ending HK: I feel like I've been on a roller coaster for the last 3 months. Out of all of the seasons this has been the most crazy ride. But now its time for me to get the f**k out of Hell's Kitchen.

I agree Lauren! All of Gordon's shows on the BBC are much better than the American versions.

I love the BBC channel bc it has kitchen nightmares and its way better because it is english and they can get away with a lot more on TV! :ROTFL:

I don't think either one of them were fit to win, but if I had to choose, I would have picked Petrozza. I just didn't see a clear-cut talent this season.

Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen? No, it made the most sense. Matt hated Petrozza's team just as much as Jen hated Christina. I thought Jen's performance last night was better than Matt's. I think ultimately it was the best move. Who had the stronger team? Christina did. Corey and LouRoss are overall more talented and dedicated than Bobby and Ben. Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom? Christina's. I didn't really like Petrozza's flowers. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation? I was mortified for her. That was so tacky. It wasn't like he was even her boss! Whose menu was more exciting? Petrozza. That souffle' looked amazing. I don't eat beef, so does that mean I would've been stuck with Matt's mungfish in Christina's restaurant? Ack. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen? Matt. Jen was whiny, bitter and slow as usual, but she got the job done. Matt was flat out terrible and he had a rotten childish attitude to boot too! Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic? I saw in the previews which door opened up, so when I saw Christina lined up behind that door, I knew she won. Did Christina deserve to win? Yes, I think she did. Petrozza may have the experience, but he hesitates too often and seems to be indecisive. He is a nice guy and I wish him all the best, but I don't really seem him as commanding much authority/respect. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza? I got emotional when I saw who opened the door. I was happy for Christina, but sad for Petrozza. I think Ramsay was more certain about his decision than he let on, but he has a lot of respect/affection for Petrozza... so it was hard. Overall, what did you think of this season? I think this is the only time I actually watched a season of Hell's Kitchen all the way through. (Thank you, Hulu!) I'm convinced that any show Ramsey does will be interesting. I can't wait for Kitchen Nightmares to come back!!!

1. Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen? No. I think he knew that Jen would slow down her work when she got attitude, which is all the time. But Matt is the kind of worker that will stop working completely as he whines. 2. Who had the stronger team? Petrozza 3. Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom? Petrozza’s with the fireplace too boot. 4. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation? No, because that girl is so darn tacky and useless. She is two faced and now it’s hard for her to find a decent job being that many people have seen her true ways on television. 5. Whose menu was more exciting? They each had a little something I would like. I loved Christina’s dessert. 6. Didn't Petrozza's lobster strudel look unappetizing? It looked ok. 7. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen? They were both so darn horrible. Jen asking for a job recommendation is foul, and her moving slow and complaining because she’s a sore loser was NO surprise. But Matt was talking back and whiny like a toddler. 8. Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic? I didn’t notice too much. 9. Did Christina deserve to win? No. But I understand Chef wanting a newcomer so that he could mold her. Petrozza was too messy in the kitchen and still so unorganized when it came to that by the end of the show. By the end of the season he shouldn’t have been that way. So I guess Chef could see Petrozza as hard to change. Chef keeps his kitchens looking darn near perfect. 10. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza? No. But doesn’t Chef always congratulate the loser in some way anyway? Chef’s a good man that treats his contestant the same, win or lose in the end. 11. Overall, what did you think of this season? I only watched half of last season, and almost all of this season. But I thought it went well.

This season was my least fave...I hated almost all of them...esp Matt.

Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen? Yes, but matt was just as bad. Who had the stronger team? Probably Christina bc Cory is the shizzle Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom? Defintiely Christina's, I loved the brown walls and it seemed cozy and classy. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation? That made me laugh SO hard!!! I was not surprised though, that girl has NO clue. Whose menu was more exciting? Petrozza's, WHY WHY WHY did she have three BEEF burgers followed by more BEEF in her entree. LEarn to cook chicken/fish/anything besides Beef!! Didn't Petrozza's lobster strudel look unappetizing? It looked like puke in a wrapper. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen? Matt is a bumbling idiot but Jen is obnoxious, so I say Jen. Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic? I did not notice that, but I have DVR so I always feel that way. Did Christina deserve to win? Yeah, I think so, but she needs to stop smoking, I don't trust chef's who smoke. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza? Nope. But I did love when Ramsay squirted everyone with champagne! hahahaha Overall, what did you think of this season? The chefs all sucked, it was like which one was the least bad? christina.

Ahhh, I was totally rooting for Petrozza. I thought he was very humble and gracious last night.

I'm finally catching on to the fact that GR doesn't seem to want chefs with experience, it seems as though he wants chefs that will look good. Christina would be an asset to the restaurant and has a great future ahead of her, but Petrozza has work experience that can be used right now. I really hope the future brings Petrozza all the good things he seems to deserve. Long live a true gentleman! Now, if I can keep from spoiling the ending of this season for my husband, I will be lucky!:)

I thought I was into cooking/reality shows - some of you watched very closely (as did I); love reading your articles and agree with most everything. I'd love to know where Petrozza ends up, keep us informed Party, please.

1. Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen? A little. I don't know why anyone would willingly pick Jen though. 2. Who had the stronger team? Petrozza definitely. Bobby was solid and Ben took direction great. They were working as a team for the most part. Matt really threw Lou and Corey out of their game. 3. Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom? Hate to say it but I preferred Christina's by a long shot. 4. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation? Not at all. It was a typical Jen move. 5. Whose menu was more exciting? No competition there - Petrozza. Everything sounded amazing! 6. Didn't Petrozza's lobster strudel look unappetizing? I wouldn't say it was the appearance that would make that dish good but it wasn't unappetizing looking in my opinion. 7. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen? They are two different kinds of bad! 8. Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic? I have to agree. 9. Did Christina deserve to win? No I think she won based on age honestly. I can't imagine working for Christina. 10. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza? I felt for him and wanted to give him a hug myself. 11. Overall, what did you think of this season? I didn't see the first 2 seasons but I liked this one almost as much as the 3rd which was what got me hooked. I did not like the season 3 winner, Rock, either. He annoyed me quite a bit. I am pretty used to being let down by the winners on these types of shows so I watch for the journey not really for the winner.

\b\1. Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen?\b\ Nope, not at all. He HATED Matt, and felt he was completely useless. 2. Who had the stronger team? Christina, definitely. If Matt had been on his Game, she'd have had NO issues. But, she's the better Chef and a better leader, so who knows, the other team may have done just as well under her. 3. Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom? Christina's, it was more my taste. 4. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation? Nothing from Jen shocks me. She's a loudmouth. She's uncouth. She's a brat. 5. Whose menu was more exciting? I think Petrozza's, but Christina's was masterfully done. 6. Didn't Petrozza's lobster strudel look unappetizing? No, it looked good to me. 7. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen? Jen. But I think that's because I hate her with a deep seated hatred. I never want to hear her WHINY big fat mouth EVER again. 8. Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic? Kinda sorta, but it ended how I wanted so it's all good. 9. Did Christina deserve to win? YES! 10. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza? I did, but I cry at greeting card commercials, so that's nothing new. LMAO 11. Overall, what did you think of this season? It was alright, except for Jen. IF she hadn't been there at all it would have been great. Oh, did I say I CAN'T STAND JEN yet?

I was kinda cheer for Petrozza. He seems like such a good guy and at the end he really showed how strong he was. Oh well...

1. I was. I was surprised, and I was sad. I kind of knew it from that point on that he was doomed. I'm also rally disappointed that she was brought back and given so much airtime. I know that Fox has a reputation to uphold or something, but that was too much obnoxiousness. 2. Christina did. Corey is a better technician than Bobby. Louross is faster than Ben. And Matt, on average, is stronger than Jen, on average. 3. I prefer Petrozza's clubroom. I loved the flowers, I loved the sort of cigar-bar feel of it, and I loved the fireplace. I wasn't wild about the wallpaper, but I got over it. The window treatments in Christina's were ridiculous. Who was she trying to fool with those giant manufactured views of buildings? 4. Just when I think Jen can't do anything else to surprise me, BAM. What on earth was she thinking? Not only does this make her look yet more like a complete tool, but then any job interview she goes into, people will ask to see that letter and she'll have to stumble through why she doesn't have one. That move was as smooth as sandpaper. 5. Petrozza's, and I would have loved to taste it. There are too many frou-frou sliders on menus, and the coconut sorbet dessert on Christina's side looked like soup when Gordon tasted it. 6. I actually thought it looked amazing after it was re-tooled. The first look seemed pretty much like he mashed a lobster. 7. Jen. Matt is a controlled dysfunction - you kind of know what he's going to screw up and you can plan around it. Jen can infect *anything*, and she did. 8. Quite. Fox does a great job of building and building to a crescendo, but when you finally get the result, it's a whole lot of nothing. 9. I don't think so. Based on the night's performance, she had a stronger team, played it safe with the easier menu and she *still* had food come back. Gordon picked her for long-term reasons and, while he was a little coy about it, he did essentially say as much. 10. Not really. I don't tend to get emotional over such things. I was happy to see him get some recognition at the end, but it didn't crack me up. 11. This season was played much more like a game than previously. The personnel had too much character and not enough culinary skill, for my liking. The cream rose to the top, yes, but it was a hard slog. I think that picking Christina was the *right* move for Gordon's kitchen, but I don't think it was the right decision for the outcome of the show. Petrozza was on fire, and he got hosed anyway because Christina was the better long-term prospect. I'd love to see Christina's reaction when she finds out that the "executive chef" position is just a job title. And I want to interview Jen for a job, just so I can ask for that letter.

1. Not really. I think he remembered how much the other 2 members of his brigade hated Matt - so picking Jenn seemed like the less of 2 evils. 2. I think overall, Petrozza did. I really thought that Bobby should have made it to the finals - and that Ben should have made it further than he did. Louross and Corey are great - but I think that Bobby's just better. Calmer. 3. Equally really. I loved the sleak look of Christina's restaurant - but I hated the fake scenery in the windows. I loved Petrozza's homey rustic look - but I hated that wallpaper! 4. I thought it was hilarious. I was a little embarassed for her. That girl's got some serious reality issues. I think it'd be wise for her to leave her stint on HK off her resume... 5. Petrozza's hands down. 6. I thought it looked super yummy!! I would have ordered that for sure. I don't think I would have been disappointed either if the waiter came and told me that it'd be lobster risotto either. 7. It's hard to pick between 2 horrible people. Both had major attitude problems last night (Matt's continuous mumblings were terrible, and Jenn's attitude deficiencies are obvious..), and both didn't really pull it together in the kitchen. One doesn't know how to make a salad, and the other can't fry an onion ring?!?!? I think overall, I'd probably say Matt was worse - but not by a long shot. 8. Sort of. 9. No. She's not a better chef than Petrozza. But - Ramsey's right - she has a lot of potential. Petrozza is much further along in his career - and I think Ramsey wanted someone he could mold. 10. Yeah. I hope good things come along for Petrozza. Maybe an ACTUAL executive chef position somewhere. 11. I liked it - but not as much as past seasons. I think poor decisions were made by Ramsey along the way, and that the calibre of chefs altogether was a lot more poor than previous years. Every year - he keeps kind of a flakey girl on for the final 2, and this year, she finally won. Put Christina against Rock or Heather from past seasons - and she's FAR behind. I'll still be watching next season though!

I wished P woulda won, yes his dishes and restaurant were more my style, love Gordon watch all his shows here and on the BBC. Christina's mom looked like her daughter had just died instead of won $250,000 and landed a great job.

1. Were you surprised Petrozza picked Jen? No, I knew he would because of his distaste of Matt...although Jen said she wanted to show she was wrongly dismissed, she did nothing but prove Ramsay made the right decision. 2. Who had the stronger team?I think Corey and Lou Ross trumped Ben and Bobby...Jen and Matt were equally as useless 3. Whose restaurant design did you prefer: Christina's elegant bistro or Petrozza's rustic clubroom? Christina's elegant bistro. It looked like somewhere my boyf and I would go for a romantic dinner. 4. Were you shocked when Jen asked Chef Ramsay for a letter of recommendation? I would NEVER ask for a letter of recommendation from someone i argued with like that. All the future employer has to do is watch the TV show to know not to hire her. Her attitude is ATTROCIOUS! 5. Whose menu was more exciting? I think Petrozza's seemed more exciting...I would have loved to try that lobster streudel. 6. Didn't Petrozza's lobster strudel look unappetizing? HAHA see above! It didn't look that good, but based off of the nachos you and yumsugar ate it shouldn't matter! lol. I bet it tasted fantastic! 7. Who was worse in the kitchen, Matt or Jen? I thikn Matt was worse, but honestly, I would take his mediocrity over her attitude and her feelings of entitlement any day of the week. 8. Was it just me or was the ending, totally climatic anti-climatic? I agree...sort of... 9. Did Christina deserve to win? Yes! Although she has no experience she was awesome, and the fact that she did that well with no experience shows she is the better chef! 10. Did you get emotional when Ramsay hugged loser Petrozza? I would have if they had spent more time on it. I did feel sorry for Petrozza, but his exposure on the show and fanbase should lead to some wonderful opportunities for him. He has a lot to be happy about. 11. Overall, what did you think of this season? This is the first season I have ever watched, and I am hooked now. I can't wait to start watching Ramsays next, show, the nightmares or whatever. I am hooked and can't wait for next season!
