Let's Dish: What's Your Before-Bedtime Snack?

Last month, I shared a dark secret with you: I'm reluctant to climb in between the sheets without snuggling up to a glass of red wine and a hunk of chocolate first. Before I was of drinking age, my favorite way to wind down before bed was with a cup of Blue Bell ice cream or a bowl of chilled, sliced fruit, like watermelon, mango, or papaya.

What do you feel inclined to eat right before you hit the sack?

If I'm hungry I'll have cereal or toast, but usually after dinner I'm done for the night... except for hot peperoncini peppers, I have those at any random time because I'm always craving spicy!

Wow, I"m impressed by the self control so many of you appear to have! I "wish" I could just go to bed without eating. I actually eat the "majority" of my calories at night and yes, a bulk of them are right before I get in bed. My bedtime snacks are usually, Fage 2% mixed with honey and a handful of raw oatmeal or almonds. Maybe a bagel with pb or hummus. A bar, such as Luna or Zone and a cup of soy milk. english muffin with laughing cow cheese and tomato. Sometimes I just eat a bunch of hard boiled eggs (whites only) and dip them into pasta sauce! Weird, yes, but high protein and an acquired taste!

I don't really snack every night before bed. If I do I make something quick like cereal.

I don't like to eat before bed. Mainly because I brush my teeth right after eating dinner. But if I'm hungry, it's all about drinking a warm glass of milk to help me fall asleep.

Depends on the season, but usually it's cheese or some crackers, or both. Nowadays I eat a lot of popcicles, but we're slowly entering the season of hot chocolate.

I only eat sometimes, when I do it's usually frozen berries or stove popped popcorn. Sesame crackers are also yummy.

i usually eat a second dessert before bed.. typically a cup of hot tea and chunk of dark chocolate or a date stuffed with almond butter. the idea that you can't eat before bed has no grounds: if you're hungry, eat. if you want 50 calories of chocolate to help yourself wind down, it is not going to make you gain weight. that's just ridiculous.

My trainer told me that it's not good to eat really late at night. For example, Like coming home at 2am from a party and then eating something...say a slice of pizza, that will cause weight gain. Also, I do not eat fruit at night = they're really high in carbs which turns into sugar = fat.

The whole myth about eating before bed causing weight gain is such bunk. I usually eat an apple or a bowl of berries with yogurt before I go to sleep. Sometimes I'll snack on some mini rice cakes, too, but they make me retain water, so I don't eat them as often.

Say "ewww" all you want to about this, but I love a cup of hot milk with Horlicks or Carnation malted milk powder mixed in it. Very, very relaxing! :)

Frozen grapes during the summer, Mexican hot cocoa in the winter. If I feel like it, a piece of toast with sugar-free jelly.

ever since i was little i've always had cereal as a late night snack...and almost never for breakfast. i'm a milk-a-holic, and there's such a wide variety of cereal that you never get bored with it

I try not to eat before bed. I usually like to have a glass of cold water. If I do eat before bed, it's usually a few Wheat Thins or popcorn.
