Definition: Nutella

Originally a brand name for a spread made of chocolate and hazelnut, nutella has come to represent any hazelnut/chocolate spread (like Kleenex for tissue). Created in the 1940s by Ferrero of Ferrero Rocher Sweets, it is a thick, smooth paste similar to peanut butter. It can be smeared on breads and used as a filling.

it's almost the food of the gods! like many of the commenters, i can't buy it too often since i'd eat it all. good on toast, baguettes, rolls, crepes, with french butter cookies, on fruit, and of course, all by itself. ahhh, chocolate & hazelnut.... :-)

I love for Nutella and eat it almost every single day for breakfast on a nice piece of rye toast. I do wonder about the nutritional value of eating a delicious chocolatey hazelnut substance on a regular basis. Just thinking about Nutella rmakes we want to get up from my computer to go spoon some of that amazing ooey goodness.........mmmmmm.

Nutella is so naughty! I swear it's so addicting! I had an incredible banana and nutella crepe in Paris a few years ago, and I will never be the same. Life changing stuff that Nutella.

I remember having Nutella for the first time when I was 7. Then when I recently went to Europe I became obsessed with it all over again. In Italy I found Nutella gelato, in Austria I ate it with warm bread for breakfast and in France I had it with a crepe. Nutella = Amazing.

I had a strong addiction to this stuff back in the mid to late 90's. It is delicious on a warm toasted bagel. Mmmmm... I have some other vivid memories of Nutella involved situations as well... Sorry, TMI!

yum yum.... love Nutella... and I agree: There is a huge difference between European and US Nutella ;) I think it's the same with regular chocolate and things like Mars, Snickers etc. :(

I actually had to throw out 1/2 a jar of nutella a few days ago since I sat at work all afternoon eating it with a spoon. I felt a wee bit sick & decided nutella is wonderful in SMALL doses. YUM and a little eww.

I adore Nutella. It's so delicious! I worked at a French cafe when I was in high school and the "kid's menu" was a nutella and strawberry jelly crepe. :) I give it to my kids sometimes, but I can't bring Nutella into the house too often because they sneak into the pantry and eat it straight out of the jar (I wonder where they learned that from...)

I used to be scared of nutella because my sister told me it was a strange European food she brought back from Germany that I probably wouldn't like. I soon found out she was just lying to keep it all to herself! Now I know better, nutella is yummy!
