Padma Lakshmi's Jewelry Line Debuts Tomorrow

Padma Lakshmi's Jewelry Line Debuts Tomorrow

Model. Top Chef hostess. Cookbook author. Now Indian beauty and culinary world darling, Padma Lakshmi can add jewelry designer to her résumé. Her high-end (prices range from $300-6,000) namesake collection of gold jewels debuts tomorrow at Bergdorf Goodman in New York City and I've got a sneak preview! The line combines Padma's love for food and fashion.

She was inspired by cardamom, lentils, and cloves: "In hunting for the most precious spices, I found the shapes of seeds and pods exquisite, a purity of proportion and form that had an inherent sensuality to them." Entitled "Padma" the collection consists of 40 pieces including rings, bracelets, necklaces, and earrings. I'm a fan of bohemian gold jewelry and if I could afford it, I might purchase of one Padma's pieces. What do you think of her designs?

her line is pretty but WAY too expensive. in these times shouldn't you be more mindful of things and not price things to start at $300? she's best known to most people for being on Bravo and most Bravo viewers prob don't have that kind of discretionary income to spend (unless they are the real housewives)

I don't know...they're kind of pretty, but I probably wouldn't buy them. It seems like she's just putting her name on something to make a brand for herself. Maybe she should just stick to the food world?

I love her on Top Chef, but her description sounds fey. The jewelry is pretty, buy it looks a lot like the tear drop and bean shapes from Elsa Peretti for Tiffany.

Yeah, this makes as much sense as Tommy Hilfiger or Vera Wang having mattresses and rug lines. I can find the same sort of stuff at Pier 1 or World Market, and more authentic without the big price tag. Also, her Burger King (or whatever) ad is stupid as shit. Another sellout, whoo!
