Pictures From the Fair Spirits Launch Party in San Francisco

Meet Fair, the World's First Fair-Traded Spirits Brand

Earlier this week I was invited to attend a very special alcohol launch for Fair Spirits. Fair is the first line of premium spirits to be produced with fair-trade-certified ingredients. It consists of three spirits: a vodka and two flavored liqueurs, goji berry and coffee. The smooth, easy-to-drink vodka is made from quinoa farmed in the mountains of Bolivia; the gojis for the sweet and versatile goji berry liqueur are grown by Tibetan monks; and the coffee beans used to make the fragrant coffee liqueur are harvested in Mexico. Each of these communities is positively benefiting from the production of these spirits. Cool, right?

I like the vodka so much that I keep a bottle in my freezer, so it's always ready for martinis.

The event was incredibly informative and from now on, I'm going to try and purchase fair trade products when I can. Here are a bunch of pamphlets.

A poster of the goji liqueur, isn't it a beautiful red color?

The party was hosted at a recently opened hotspot, The Burritt Room.

Three cocktails, one that featured each of the different spirits, were served at the party. Guests were invited to try them all.

To learn more about the brand and the event, please browse my photos after the break.

This potent drink is called "cartoons can be midgets." It's got a complex list of ingredients: vodka, cynar, chiptle tincture, peach bitters, chartreuse, and orange peel.

The "goji fizz" consists of vodka, goji liqueur, grapefruit, lemon, and egg white for froth.

My favorite drink was the "fair flip"; a mixture of vodka, coffee liqueur, sherry, lemon, old fashioned bitters, and egg. It was wonderfully balanced.

A shot of the trio of drinks.

These goji wings were to die for. They were like buffalo wings, but the sauce was made with the goji liqueur. They were sweet, spicy, messy, and totally addictive.

My dear friend Danny Ronen is a representative of the brand. He invited me to the party.

After trying the cocktails, we got to watch a presentation about the brand.

I love the way the chandeliers look in this photo!

The vodka is made from quinoa.
