Product Review: Hormel Pepperoni Minis Snac Pacs

Taste Test: Hormel Pepperoni Minis

Both PartySugar and I are fiends for cured meats as well as suckers for anything mini — so you can imagine our reactions when we opened up a parcel that was filled with pocket-sized packs of Hormel Pepperoni Minis! I stepped out to run an errand, but Party confessed she couldn't wait for me to get back to break into them. Were they as delicious as they were tempting? Find out when you keep reading

There's no disputing the convenience of this product, which comes in a package with six 1-oz. portions, requires no refrigeration, and costs a mere $3.49. The miniature pepperoni rounds have a pleasantly sweet-hot flavor. The pepperoni, made from a mixture of beef, pork, red pepper, and spices, have the same familiar taste as their standard-sized Hormel counterparts. As one would probably expect, they're rather greasy, and so rich that even a 1-oz. "snack" is hard to finish in one setting.

The biggest selling point is the product's cute factor. We could only fathom how adorable the itsy-bitsy pepperonis, which only measure a centimeter in diameter, would be in salads, cold pasta tosses, and — get excited — baby pizzas! Have you spotted Hormel's Pepperoni Minis at the supermarket? Did you, too, become a sucker for their irresistible size?

These would be so cute on the English muffin pizzas we sometimes make camping.

I tossed them with arugula, chunks of parmesan cheese, pepperocinis, tomatoes, croutons, and green olives to make one scrumptious salad. Simple red wine vinaigrette.

We often take things like this camping or backpacking with us. It's amazing how good a supermarket bagel with cream cheese and pepperoni is when you're outdoors! We'll almost definitely have some with us this weekend, while camping in Tuolumne.

I might have to try these. My husband loves these little snacks I make for him to eat when he watches TV...I put a piece of mozzarella cheese on a Ritz cracker and top it with a slice of pepperonie and broil them. The regular pepperonis are slightly too big; the mini ones would be perfect.

I used these on a homemade pizza just the other day and it was scrumptious! Next, I'm going to try them in a cold pasta salad with mozzarella cubes.
