Recap of Top Chef Vegas Restaurant Wars

Top Chef Vegas: Episode 9

On the latest Top Chef, the remaining eight cheftestants have to prove they can work as a team. The quickfire involves blindfolds and the elimination challenge is everyone's favorite, what Padma dubs the "most anticipated episode of the season," restaurant wars. To discuss all the delicious details,

.

  1. How cute was it when Michael picked his bro?
  2. What did you think of the quickfire? Did the blue team win because Jen set them up with a specific dish?
  3. Were you excited for restaurant wars? I was bummed they didn't have to do decor!
  4. Michael V. says that winning restaurant wars is about the execution. Do you agree?
  5. For some reason, I really enjoyed Jen in this episode. I identified with her when she told Tom she was stressed because she thinks she's superwoman and takes on too much. Did you see a different side of her as well?
  6. During restaurant wars, in past seasons, did they have more time to cook?
  7. What exactly is a billi-bi?
  8. Are the producers keeping Robin around because she is the only person who causes drama?
  9. Who worked the front of the house better? Eli or Laurine?
  10. Were you surprised that Tom said Revolt was the best restaurant restaurant wars had ever seen?

1. How cute was it when Michael picked his bro? It was quite cute. 2. What did you think of the quickfire? Did the blue team win because Jen set them up with a specific dish? I thought it was dumb. I have no idea. 3. Were you excited for restaurant wars? I was bummed they didn't have to do decor! Eh, I wasn't really disappointed with them not doing decor, but I did like it. I can't believe the blue team did so bad. 4. Michael V. says that winning restaurant wars is about the execution. Do you agree? Nope. 5. For some reason, I really enjoyed Jen in this episode. I identified with her when she told Tom she was stressed because she thinks she's superwoman and takes on too much. Did you see a different side of her as well? As the show goes on she has shown more emotion and stopped acting like a bitch. She is cool. 6. During restaurant wars, in past seasons, did they have more time to cook? I don't remember. 7. What exactly is a billi-bi? No idea. 8. Are the producers keeping Robin around because she is the only person who causes drama? I don't know. 9. Who worked the front of the house better? Eli or Laurine? Eli. 10. Were you surprised that Tom said Revolt was the best restaurant restaurant wars had ever seen? No.

1. It was cute. I love the V. bros. I used to ind Bryan a little bit annoying but now I'm infatuated with him as much as Michael. 2. The quickfire was cool. It was funny to see each chef struggle at the beginning of their section. I was sure the red team was going to win though 3. I love restaurant wars! I'm glad they didn't have to do decor, its not relevant for a cooking show. 4. Yeah, that's why they won. Mike V was a hard@ss but thats what you need to do to get the job done. 6. I think so but they also had to do decor so that has to take up time. 7. No idea. 8. I think so. She should have been gone so long ago. She keeps screwing up and then just avoiding elimination. She needs to go. 9. Eli was so much better. Laurine didn't seen like she was all there last night. 10. No, they had a good team. You can't go wrong with the Volt. brothers.

In past seasons it seemed like they were also judged on the decor, so it was kind of unfair they didn't have to do this. Maybe that's why it was the best rest. wars win ever? Either way, it was a fun episode, Michaels cocky attitude is definitely becoming annoying. Team Brian now!

1. No surprise. I kinda wish Jen had picked Bryan, so that we could have split the Volts up. I think that might have made a big difference for the blue team. 2. That Quickfire was awesome. So much fun. I kept laughing at Jen bouncing on the sidelines like "No! That's no what I planned. Do that!". I was impressed by their ability to assess and improvise so quickly. 3. I LOVE restaurant wars. I was actually glad they dumped the decor stuff, because I like watching the cooking. I didn't understand the "advantage" the blue team had at Rick Moonen's restaurant. Didn't both teams essentially have the same set-up? 4. Yes. Obviously. 5. I like Jen a lot. I was disappointed that she fell apart and was really worried she was going home. I wish she had been as fist-clenched in-control (and was surprised that she wasn't) as she had been in the military challenge. She seemed born to run a kitchen in that episode. There was too much trying to not step on each others' toes for the blue team to succeed. 6. I can't recall. 7. Billi-bi is cream of mussels soup. But I had to look it up. 8. I think Robin is doing ok. It always happens that there are a few mediocre chefs still hanging on towards the end. I wanted to smack her last night, though. Calling Michael out for interfering is one thing. Being all "he's my competitor and I wanted to shake things up" is stupid. You're on the same team! She's old enough to know that was neither the time nor place, nor the way, to deal with that situation. (How much did I love Bryan telling her and Michael to get back to work?) 9. Eli. He looked sloppy and was way too informal, but at least he was out on time, seemed to have a clue of what was going on, communicated with the back of the house, and actually talked to the judges. 10. No. This season clearly has some really accomplished chefs.

1. How cute was it when Michael picked his bro? I didn't think it was cute, I don't like the brothers. I did wonder though, if Michael had first pick, would he have chosen Kevin or his brother? 2. What did you think of the quickfire? Did the blue team win because Jen set them up with a specific dish? I loved the quickfire! I think they won because they did fish, fish always wins. 3. Were you excited for restaurant wars? I was bummed they didn't have to do decor! I love Restaurant Wars! I was bummed that they didn't have to do decor, but it left more time for cooking. 4. Michael V. says that winning restaurant wars is about the execution. Do you agree? Yes. 5. For some reason, I really enjoyed Jen in this episode. I identified with her when she told Tom she was stressed because she thinks she's superwoman and takes on too much. Did you see a different side of her as well? She looks great in a bikini! She annoys me though. 6. During restaurant wars, in past seasons, did they have more time to cook? Seems like it, and they had to do decor too! 7. What exactly is a billi-bi? I have no idea, but I'm going to look it up! 8. Are the producers keeping Robin around because she is the only person who causes drama? The producers don't keep her there, the judges do! 9. Who worked the front of the house better? Eli or Laurine? They were both awful, but at least Eli told the judges what they were eating! 10. Were you surprised that Tom said Revolt was the best restaurant restaurant wars had ever seen? Nope it's season 10 isn't it, the Chefs should be able to do a better job than the previous seasons!

1. So cute. For as much as they bicker, they really do have each other's backs. It must be a nice comfort to have your brother there in a competition like this. I wonder if that's why they're excelling...they're more comfortable, so they cook better.2. Awesome! Loved it! And yes, I do think Jen set them up to win. She rocks.3. Of course! I was happy they didn't have to do decor. It was more about cooking this time.4. Yes, but it's also about everything combined! Front of the house, timing, back of the house, everything.5. I think she's starting to show her softer side. Look at the military base episode where she was controlling the kitchen to this one. Totally different. I was really scared that she was going home after the judges tasted her fish dishes!6. It seems like they did. Maybe because they had time to cook while others were shopping for decor.7. Cream of mussels soup.8. No, I think she's still there because she not a half bad cook. I bet she'll be the next to go but I don't think they're purposefully keeping her around.9. Eli, for sure.10. No, not at all! Not with the Bros. V around!

1. I figured he would pick his brother. Sure they're super competitive with each other, but they also recognize and understand each others skill and style of cooking.2. I thought it was an interesting concept. Jen totally set up her team to win with that sauce.3. Restaurant wars is a lot of fun to watch. I thought it was good that they didn't have to waste time with the decor; this is a cooking show after all.4. Absolutely. You can have a great menu or ideas, but if you aren't able to present it well, then it doesn't matter.5. Totally. I really liked Jen this episode too.6. I don't remember. 7. No clue.8. No, I don't think so. She just hasn't had a real opportunity to leave yet.9. Definitely Eli. Laurine seemed completely overwhelmed.10. No. Michael V. ran a tight ship and made sure everything was the best it could be. Revolt's menu sounded and looked delicious and I wasn't at all surprised that they won or were the best.
