@nutella2683 Thank you for the compliment! I didn't try half of those things you mentioned which only means I need to go back! I also loved Mrs. Balls chutney, which, sadly, I didn't get a picture of either. Just strolling the aisles of Clicks was exciting -- there were so many different snack and candies that I was dying to try!

This is perfectly comprehensive post about my home country's cuisine :). As a South African, this is making me miss native cooking like crazy!! thankfully my mom is a fantastic cook and a trip to my parents home is like going back to the Mother City (Cape Town) for some Cape Malay and so much else.     Still there are things I totally miss like Apple/Grape/Peartisers, Stoney Ginger Beer, Biltong, Nik Naks (which are like Cheetos), REAL Cadburys chocolate (not made by Hersheys), Simba potato chips including ChipNiks Dippas, ProNutro cereal (chocolate, banana and regular), boerwors, Nandos and so much more.  Luckily I live in Brooklyn, NY where there is a South African close :) and there is a Nandos in Washington DC!!  This is making me wish I could go back home, so much family is there and even better-- it's SUMMER.

What a diverse spread you enjoyed! The oxtail potjieko, Mantelli's shortbread, and denningvleis sound particularly amazing (I LOVE tamarind anything).
