There's Nothing Fishy About Sweet Sushi Candy

Have you ever heard of sushi candy? No, it's not actual sushi — and there's no fish involved — rather marshmallow treats, gummy candies, and Fruit Roll-Ups combine for a dessert that resembles the Japanese delicacy. We have a video to show you how to DIY candy sushi, and there's plenty more inspiration. Bloggers and candy companies have come up with their own versions, too. If you don't have a serious hankering for sushi candy now, just wait until you see these brilliant photos.

Wrap sour rainbow belts and Swedish Fish around mini rectangles of Rice Krispies treats.

Try a sushi-candy-making kit.

My absolute favorite sushi candy of all time is made using this kit: Popin' Cookin' Happy Sushi House (around $3). The ikura sushi roll is the highlight. The "sushi rice" tastes like a mix between marshmallows and cotton candy. The black nori wrapper tastes like grape. And the "fish eggs" taste like bursting boba.

Sprinkles, Nerds, KitKats, and Fun-Size Snickers are also legitimate fillings.

Mermaids approve of storebought candy sushi too.

Try a kit like It'Sushi Candy Sushi ($13) which includes Candy Maki (sour licorice bites wrapped in a sour belt), Candy Ikura (candy-coated gummies), Candy Urimaki (two sour gummy rings with a gummy bear sitting in the center), Candy California Rolls (a marshmallow wrapped in a sour belt), Candy Koikuchi (two flavors of licorice strings), and two dipping sauces.

Turn your creations into Valentine's Day treats!

Don't forget to serve it with chopsticks.

Candy-topped cupcakes count, too! Form sushi with shredded coconut, citrus slice candy, Mike and Ike's, and black frosting.
