Take a Look at San Francisco's Bad Kitchens

Jan 25 2010 - 7:50am

I'm moving and thus, I'm on the hunt for a nice affordable apartment. Thanks to your advice [1], I'm only looking at places with dishwashers. This means I want a good-sized modern kitchen. Not too much to ask for, right? Wrong. Finding a kitchen with a regular-sized fridge, stove, and dishwasher is very hard! It's actually downright depressing, the amount of horrible kitchens that exist here in San Francisco.

Since I've been spending too much time on Craigslist [2], I've rounded up some bad kitchens. Here are the apartments I don't want to live in!

There's only one word to describe this kitchen: tiny. It's simply a stove with no place to prepare food.

With its wooden cabinets and old stove, this kitchen makes me sad.

A kitchen should be the hub of a house where people gather to enjoy food and wine. But in this box-shaped kitchen, there's not much room for several people.

There's virtually no cabinets in this kitchen. Generally, when the picture is really small, the place looks even worse in real life.

This lovely kitchen has absolutely no counter space. Unless you are very tall and can use the single shelf as a work station.

Check this kitchen out closely. At first glance, it may not seem that bad, but upon further examination, you'll realize that it's a mini-fridge, half sink, and microwave. There's no stove.

Don't be fooled by the granite counter tops and light-colored cabinets. This is a newly remodeled kitchen that does not have a dishwasher! It's 2010, who remodels a kitchen and doesn't put in a dishwasher?

This charming studio has a kitchen that's actually a closet. When you get angry that the kitchen is so small, you can simply close the doors and not look at it.
