Tapenade

Definition: Tapenade

Tapenade
A thick paste-like condiment with origins in France's Provence region. The classic paste is usually made from olives, capers, anchovies, olive oil, lemon juice, and seasonings. However, these days you can find many other varieties, including garlic, sun-dried tomato, or artichoke. Excellent when paired with crisp toast, fish, or meat.

I could totally get naked and roll in tapenade, I love it that much. LOL!! Wait, was that TMI? Its awesome. I love a good piece of crusty French bread, a little bit of butter on it and then tapenade on top. Good times!

That particular tapenade is dark because it's made with kalamata olives or some other ripe olive. If you like olives, you'll like tapenade because that's primarily what it is. Olives. Nothing gross about olives hehehe. Besides, there are tons of things people eat that don't look like much but taste phenomenal. Caviar, foie gras, nori (seaweed), ginger, mushrooms... just to name a few.

Wow do you guys think it looks disgusting only because it's dark? Tapenade is amaaazing, especially when you dip gressins in it. :P You can also find it with green olives (my fav since I don't like black olives). If some are interested, the recipe is fairly basic: -1can black olives -1can green olvives -1 small/medium ripe tomato -the juice of one lemon -pepper (avoid salt because of the olives) -a splash of olive oil -1-2 anchovies -herbs to taste Just put everything in a blender, and that's it!
