Top Chef - Did You Watch What Happened?

I must say, I was pretty disappointed that last night's Top Chef was a reunion episode - especially because I had just gotten a good grasp of the S3 contestants names. However, having said that it was sort of fun to see the chefs return. I'll admit, I really liked those S1 folks and was wondering why only Dave, Leann and Harold were there. In addition to those three, four contestants from S2 showed - Cliff, Sam, Ilan and Mikey (Marcel was apparently on a fishing trip) - and five from S3 - Lia, Sandy, Micah, Camille and Clay.

I understand how a show like this is a lot of fun for hardcore viewers, however it sort of knocks the drama out of the competition. I wanna see cooking, I wanna see fire, I wanna see drama! I don't want to see people rolling their eyes, plugs for other Bravo shows (I love Tim Gunn, but really? A question from acclaimed chef Jean Georges I can understand, but from Gunn or the gal from Workout, how is that relevant??), weird montages of Padma's fashion or how chef Tom is adored in the bear community.

Did you watch? What did you think? There were some pretty weird moments on there - my personal favorite came from Micah the "African American" (did you see Cliff's face?!). I just don't understand how anyone thinks they can go on to a reality show and omit/alter/lie about their past. Haven't they ever heard of the internet?!

This show looked like it was totally butchered with editing. I thought it was bland at best. I ALWAYS love to see Sam (go to my pics) but it was a little weird. I was expecting a reunion with S2, like they did with S1. Not an awkward combo of all seasons mixed together.

I was disappointed. I'm all for reunion shows - at the end of the season! I'm not sure that I understand why this was done so early on in the season. There were highlights definitely but most of it was pretty boring and definitely felt like they were just trying to fill time. Bring on the Quickfires!

It was filler. I was pretty disappointed that there wasn't a "real" episode on that night, but I ended up watching. The two best moments were Cliff's face in reponse to the "African American" comment and the spoof of a challenge during Season 2- that was hysterical!

I think it's really odd that this is the second time this season that there has been a week of no cooking. Yes, this was a "Top Chef episode" but come on! It was total fluff and filler! Does this mean there will be more then one week where they kick off more then one person? How many of them are left? It still feels like there alot of them there in comparison to the number of weeks are left in the season.

I thought it was completely boring, useless blasé TV. I have seen the season one people get asked the same questions. “why did you cry so much” “was steven for real” “would you do it again” AND the season two people: “do you really hate marcel” “what happened the night of the shaving incident” “did you feel like sam went home to early” And why season 3 rejects were on there is beyond me, all BORING, I almost threw up in my mouth when they suggested that Leann and Harold were an item… I never liked Ilan, but his attitude has gotten better thankfully. The clips of Paddleme in her naughty clothes, and “superfans” puuuuleaaaaze.

Yeah, it was definitely filler, but I had an awesome time watching. And I can totally see Tom being chased down by a pack of "bears"...

I didn't even know this was on. Is the third season still going on or did that wrap up? I'm getting it confused with Food Network Star, I think.

I agree the show was boring, but Sam is sooo yummy. And I have a huge crush on Tom, so I watch him anytime I can.

I was really disappointed also that it was a reunion show! My husband and I were so looking forward to the next episode. Needless to say, we ended up not watching the reunion.

I enjoyed the show more than I thought I would, but I think it's pretty early in the season to have a weird reunion show. I loved seeing the S1 people again and Harold is just adorable. Also, I loved how Micah couldn't even try to justify the whole South African/American controversy. I mean, c'mon, you grew up in the States! I'm glad she's gone.

It was just filler...I didn't need to know about Padma's scar, if I wanted to know I would have googled it, which by the way my husband did in S1
