Omg my friend used to tell me he'd eat his oatmeal with soy sauce. I thought he was crazy. Now I just think you're all crazy.

The savory oatmeal is taste great. Trust me. In my country, chicken porridge is a popular breakfast menu. Well, I avoid to eat rice due to its high cal and carb. So I substitute the rice with oatmeal. IT TASTE GREAT! :D The recipe is just similar with the fried-egg oatmeal (with spring onions and soy sauce), but I hard boiled the egg and add chicken to it. yum yum :9

All options look good but a fried egg? Wow I never thought of that for adding in some protein to my oatmeal. I've gone the natural route by adding some vanilla flavored protein powder to my oatmeal mix. I guess I'll be more adventurous and try the fried egg! If I like it I might even add it to my Healthy Eating on the Go list. My favorite unusual oatmeal recipe came from Esquire magazine -- it has ancho chiles, coconut milk and dried cherries (among other things). Sounds wacky, but tastes really good. Link is here: http://www.esquire.com/blogs/food-for-men/spicy-oatmeal-recipe-092210

Did anyone make this? I did not like this at all.. neither the sweet nor the savory.. although I liked whipped cream and nuts in my oatmeal.. the rest, not so much.

My hubby cooks my b'fast and when he wants to serve me oatmeal he always asks "how can I make it better" my reply "serve something else." I'll get heart healthy with an oatmeal peanut butter cookie instead.
